Saturday 12.31, Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication: Smooth night tonight other than the fire alarm. Not too much business at the bar. We called last call at 10pm.  Pay Outs : $15.49 (Munchkins)  Lost & Found? : A guest in the 5;15pm screening of Avatar on Wednesday called looking for a watch with a black band that she believed she left behind.  If it turns up, her name is Stacy and her number is: 646-591-6096.

Friday 12.30 Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication : I think we have been running way to heavy on batching. There is time to batch on every shift right now, so there is no need to have more than one backup of anything except Firewalk and Lemonade.     BAR Staff Observations: Really great work all around this morning and afternoon.  Clear communication about restocks and service flow. Prep List : There is Horchata to strain tomorrow.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Baldor tomorrow.  Big Geyser & Stumptown Tuesday.

Thursday 12.29 Nick/Edgar

Manager Communication: Warmer weather brought in more sales than yesterday it seems with Trees seeing more business between films and 2nd and 3rd round filling in nicely. Black Panther and Puss in Boots did really well in smaller theaters. EA BAR Staff Observations: Bar was well into service when I got there and everyone was in great spirits. A couple guest rushes hit Trees, but Tevon and Ashley were all over them while taking care of theater tickets as well. Ian commented on Matthew's close last night and noted how perfect it was. All in all the staff held it down all day. EA Customer Observations:  I took care of a couple Apple Pays today to help out the floor and have been noticing an increasing trend where even though we instruct the guests to fill in the tip and total when signing their check, they tend to only sign it and leave the other areas blank. Even when asked leading questions about their service, and despite the answers generally being positive, this seems to be the c...

Wednesday 12.28 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Mellow morning, with lighter ticket sales than the last few days for daytime screenings.  Black Panther and The Menu continue to do very well in the smaller theaters. JH Decent night with most of the smaller theaters filling up for dinner round. The late round of Wakanda Forever sold out again. I'm sure the warm(er) weather brought some more people around EA\ BAR Staff Observations : Eliel and Natasha held down both bars solo for the opening round today, and were able to really set up both bars for success.  Once Ashley came in and Trees was restocked, Eliel caught us up on batching and did some stocking and reorganizing in the walk in. JH It was smooth sailing for the closers. Everything was spaced in such a way that service flowed smoothly. EA FOH Staff Observations: Everyone was great at the service pass today. Hands in, hands out was the motto tonight and everyone was happy to help. EA Prep List: 1 keg of Old Fashioned. EA Ordering/Receiving/Shippin...

Tuesday 12.27 Jenn

Manager Communication : Busy second rounds in the larger theaters, with The Menu and Black Panther continuing to have great ticket sales during dinner.  Other than that, fairly quiet across the building.  BAR Staff Observations : Eliel and Lee were able to get out of here after closers were in and everyone had a chance to grab family meal.  Ian got a bunch of batching done, helped Tevon get through the one big Th1 Avatar service push, and was cut once both bars had been restocked and closers were able to take breaks.  Jenna and Tevon ran the bars solo for the rest of the evening and closed without issue.  Prep List : There is Horchata to be strained tomorrow.  Lost & Found? : A guest in the 5:15 Th1 Avatar screening, Xavier Canbi, believes that they left their black wallet behind in the theater.  Nothing was discovered while cleaning the theater, so they left their phone number for us to reach out if it turns up.  347-407-2540 JH

Monday 12.26 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Service was nicely paced, and we only ever felt a crunch at Trees when we had really close seatings of Puss in Boots in Th2 and Avatar in Th1, but nothing that disrupted service.  Theaters filled up across all three floors at different times. JH We had a good amount of last minute walk ins that kept the staff moving. There was a bit of movement in Trees when some films let out as well. EA BAR Staff Observations : Ashley and Lee were able to handle both bars solo for the opening round.  We did have some technical issues with some equipment at Lobby before doors were opened, which I will go into more detail on below in Maintenance .  Jenna was a large help as mid, and was able to keep both bars stocked and covered throughout service. JH All good on the closing side. Gabrielle and Natasha handled the rest of service smoothly while still being able to restock and organize. EA Staff Meeting Agenda: We need to set a time to demo a breakdown and rebuild o...

Sunday 12.25 Eliel/Jenn

Manager Communication : Busy morning and very busy afternoon. EL Stayed very steady during dinner, with a decent dinner crowd at Trees after some second and third round films got out.  The crowd thinned out by ten, and Trees was pretty quiet from eleven onwards. JH Customer Comments : Darielle let me know they spilled a drink on a guest. I spoke to the guest after they dried off and apologized. They were appreciative of my checking in, said they weren’t upset and gladly accepted passes. I covered some soft drinks as well. EL BAR Staff Observations : Lee and Andrea had opens. Great work today. EL Natasha had car trouble, so was late getting in, but Andrea was a champ and stuck around a little longer so that I could cut Lee after he and Sean handled a very busy Th1 service push.  Andrea got out of her right after Natasha arrived.  Both Natasha and Sean handled both bars for the rest of the evening, with occasional service assistance during busier moments. JH FOH Staff Obser...

Saturday 12/24 Christmas Eve Eliel y Edgar

Manager Communication : COLD morning! low sales, pretty quiet early on with a few pops with the kiddos. EL The temp didn't get any better. The 1st floor had a busy last round with about 100 between between the three. EA BAR Staff Observations : Openers were great! EL  Lee was pretty much cut by the time I got there and Natasha floated between both bars until we were able to get everyone fed for family meal. Slow burn on the closing side and we were able to finish up pretty quickly. EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes: There have been payouts for the last two days with no receipt or Trees printout. Also had a payout at lobby bar, I'll remind the bar staff, but if we can remind all other mgmt as well. Thanks. EA Prep List: Nada Payouts:  9778 - Staff Meals / Group Outings $98

Friday 12.23 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Quiet start to the day throughout the building. JH Evening was just as quiet, although we had a some people curl up at trees to evade the cold weather.  Every time those doors open in the lobby it feels like we're getting hit by the arctic tundra. Do we have a vestibule or those big velvet curtains some bars have sometime to keep the cold air out as much as possible? EA BAR Staff Observations : Chelsea and Ian were both able to get out of here after mids came in, and Chelsea was able to set us up with some batching. JH Sean completed his Sexual Harassment Training today in the office. I adjusted his timecard to add one hour of training. EA It was pretty snoozy at both bars, so I cut Sean and Gabrielle when Lee and Ashley were settled in a stocked up. EA Hiring/Training:  Sean Nishi completed his sexual harassment on ADP - EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Maybe a reminder in this week's bar email about carefully reading labels on soda syrup boxes before h...

Thursday 12/22 Eliel

Manager Communication: Quiet day. Not much happen BAR Staff Observations: Everyone did a great job and got out at a decent time.  Staff Meeting Agenda notes: Ashley told me that Kranks ran out and there was no back up and no infused rum. We should remind staff to let us know when there is one left on the email.  Prep List: Infused 3 bottles of Denizen needs strained tomorrow. Horchata needs strained. Coffee & Ciggs needs charged. Babylon Julep needs syrup.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: We got rice milk!

Wednesday 12.21 Edgar and Eliel

Manager Communication: Slow start to the day and it was pretty quiet throughout most rounds. I updated the bar binder with the new cider instructions and reiterated it in the service email. EA Just saw eliels post. Also sending this too Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Quiet start for both Matthew and Chelsea but they were great about setting up promptly and doing a lot of cleaning sidework FOH Staff Observations: Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Karaoke. Looked good and felt great! Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: Prep List: R&D comp checks: Over/Short on Banks: Pay Outs: Lost & Found?: Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Maintenance: Mobilebytes Issues:  Filmbot Issues:

Wed 12/21 Edgar and Eliel

Manager Communication:  This is not the blog that Edgar started. My new email doesn't have permissions to edit drafts. Please help with that.  Good evening. Theaters weren't that busy at the bars but Trivia was fun and kept everyone entertained.  Customer Comments: A regular at Trees Mohammad Shehata could not cover his tab with his card which was declined. He said he would return with cash. I think he's good for it. I closed it out bad debt/walk out and placed his check on the wall of shame.  BAR Staff Observations:  Everyone did a great job and got out at a decent hour. Chelsea got us batched up pretty good.  Special Events? Our first Karaoke was a hit. Susan attracted a few folks, and a bunch of staff participated while celebrating Micheal's (runner) Birthday. We need to work on volume control and doors going up to theaters need to be closed. I'll reach out to Susan tomorrow.  Prep List: We need Horchata.  Pay Outs: $100 Susan Karaoke

Tuesday 12.20 Nick/Edgar/Jenn

Manager Communication : Mellow night, with a decent run out for Trivia. JH Customer Comments : Had a woman call around 8:30pm asking why her stepson was charged for a tip ($6.00) on a $31.00 tab for a movie he saw over the weekend, as he assured her that he had not left a tip.  I explained that if he had left the check unsigned that it was company policy to charge unsigned checks a 20% gratuity, which is listed on both the menu and the check.  Could we add this to the Policies page on the website, too? She was pretty upset/angry during the whole interaction, especially once I told her that we would not be changing the policy.  She did not tell me what show her stepson had attended, just that it was 'over the weekend,' and when I looked her name up on Filmbot there were no recent ticket purchases. JH BAR Staff Observations : Trivia was bustling, but not too crazy, so I was able to get Darius out a little before nine, after both bars had gotten restocked.  Eliel was g...

Monday 12.19 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication:  Quiet day today here. Got some cleaning and organizing done in the walk in. Going to dump last seasons syrups and clean cambros tomorrow to make more room. EA BAR Staff Observations:  Ran tight with hours today since it wasn't particularly busy. Got Eliel out when Tevon got in and Ashley was out shortly after batching. Lee pretty much took care of the Avatar rushes with no problem. EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Put up hooks at each bar to hold some paper bags for when guests ask for them.  Lobby has a hook right under the printer at the Th7 service pass, and Trees has one right under the menu basket next to the Miller High Life.   Each hook holds about 4-6 bags, which should be fine so long as bartenders keep an eye on stock levels during opening and restocks.  I'll keep some paper bags stocked with the other paper goods in the Liquor Room, to make those restocks easier. JH 86ed / counts on items: John Woods dropped off some Dylar ...

Sunday 12/18 Eliel y Edgar

Manager Communication :  Woods brought some friends to watch the World Cup Final game and Argentina won. See them Stateside in four years. The rest of the morning/afternoon was pretty easy. EL Dinner round had a good number of people and kept Trees occupied. Otherwise we were able to minimize staff without disrupting service.  EA BAR Staff Observations :  Ashley & Tevon we’re great openers. Sean was the first mid and was essential to getting stocked and batching done. Both openers left shortly after Miguel arrived and the th1 avatar rush subsided. EL Sean once again was great about supporting both lobby and Trees as a floating mid and was able to get out as soon as the second Avatar rush ended and the closers were restocked.  The bar staff in general have really stepped it up in regards with communicating each other and it makes the service rushes infinitely easier and stream lined. I felt great being able to leave the bartenders to their own devices to be able a...

Saturday 12.17 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Both holiday screenings sold very well and had pretty brisk services.  Avatar numbers grew throughout the day, but service was well run and seating times were not an issue. JH The dinner round was on cruise control for the bar. I was able to make cuts when necessary to keep the bar tip pool shallow without impeding service. Not a lot of action at Trees after the films let out. EA BAR Staff Observations : Andrea and Natasha are brunch pros and set up both bars for busy holiday movies.  I was able to go over menu changes with each of them, as they were unable to attend Thursday's meeting, and they are now all caught up.   Tevon came in just as Christmas Vacation was seating, and was very helpful in making sure both bars were restocked and set after each service push.  Once Gabrielle arrived at Trees in time for two back-to-back Avatar seatings, I was able to cut openers and floated Tevon downstairs to cover Lobby until closers came in. JH F...

Friday 12.16 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty good night. Trees had some good business.  BAR Staff Observations : Ian got us batched up on Trees back ups and a large batch of Kumquat Syrup during his prep shift, and then slid into opening Trees.  Chelsea had a family emergency that she let me know about as soon as she came in, so I was able to get Gabrielle to come in early and Chelsea was able to get out of here by four.  She is off the next couple of days, and told me she will be in touch if she needs to give up any shifts this coming week. JH Closers were great. Ian stayed till a little past 9.  Matthew got some good service experience and got out by midnight. Closers were great. Everyone seemed to acclimate to the new menu. A few clarifications here and there but no major hiccups. EL Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Both bars are set and ready for Winter Menu service going forward.  Let's keep an eye on garnishes, set ups, and urns over the weekend, as staff adjusts. ...

Thursday 12.15 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication:  Busy night with the event and menu change. EL Customer Comments: I received a call to get to th 3. When I got there I witnessed a person passed out on the floor in the doorway, and dwight kneeling nearby with a friend of the person standing by as well. I immediately called 911 and got emts on the way.  When I got back the guest was conscious and throw up on the ground in front of him. I covered the vomit with a rag and eventually we got the guest to move outside the theater and have a seat with a bucket and a glass of water with the friend there. I then threw some corn starch on the vomit, and swept it up as we waiting for EMT.  EMT arrived, Wyatt got an incident report and the guest was escorted to the vehicle. The guest didn't seem drunk at all. The vomit was not drunk vomit. I hope they're okay.  BAR Staff Observations: Everyone worked great together to get menu change and the entire day accomplished. EL FOH Staff Observations: Daniel was g...

Wednesday 12/15 Eliel

Manager Communication: Slow start but nice crowd for Batman before and a small pop after the film at Trees. BAR Staff Observations: Great crew all around. Openers got out pretty quickly after family meal, stocking and batching for Chelsea.  86ed / counts on items: Romato is on a count by the glass and 86ed by the bottle

Tuesday 12.13 Nick/Jenn

Manager Communication : Another mellow night.  Openers were able to get out after completing some organizational and menu prep tasks, and closers had a quiet evening.  Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Ordered fruit fly traps (we've had a small resurgence) and hooks to hang paper bags at both bars from Amazon this evening.  Prep List : Mulled Wine Syrup should be made tomorrow, and the Cinnamon & Clove Denizen needs to be strained in the evening.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Baldor tomorrow.

Monday 12/12 Eliel

Manager Communication: Slow night.  BAR Staff Observations: Everyone worked well. Openers got out as soon as closers ate and stocking was done. Smooth closes. Slow all around but Trees looked good for a few minutes.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Got Tinedo today.

Sunday 12.11 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication:  Good Evening today. Not much to report. EL BAR Staff Observations: Lee was a good mid floating where needed. Darius did a great job batching solo and closing lobby. Miguel set up Trees for a smooth close and helped Darius with one of the frozen's downstairs to learn how they worked. Sean did a great job with the frozen machines. Sean tested each one to make sure it was sealed.  Special Events? Ryan and Daniel's Baby Shower went really well.  Did a quick pre-shift with Lee and Natasha before the event, and Chenelle was on site to help with set up.  Both bartenders were great at navigating between service tickets and the party, with no hiccups. JH Staff Meeting Agenda notes : I've noticed recently that we have been getting more guest requests for a bag to put their to go boxes in when leaving a theater.  As servers and runners are busy flipping and prepping theaters, we should be stocking bags behind both bars.   Since paper bags...

Saturday 12.10 Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication : It actually felt pretty busy this evening during the dinner round. The theaters were all pretty full and we had a pretty good drink rush going. Service was smooth.  Customer Comments : Had a guest come to Lobby after Jackie Brown complaining of a ten minute blackout during the final reel.  The film had already concluded by this point, and he was asking for a refund.  Nathaniel spoke to Lillian, who said that there had been a 20 second blip in the final reel, but nothing more than that, and both servers (Jules and Kelsey) said that they had seen no disturbances and had not received any complaints from guests, written or otherwise. By the time I got to the guest in Lobby, he was now saying that it was a 3-4 minute blackout, and that the entire presentation was done poorly.  I apologized for his experience and offered a pass for a future screening, which he accepted.  Honestly, I think he was exaggerating the experience, as there were no oth...

Friday 12.09 Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication : Really smooth night tonight. I was able to cu the openers right after the dinner round. Trees stayed steady till 11ish.  Staff Meeting Agenda notes : One of the handheld iPads in Th7 was routed for upstairs, which we did not catch until the first few tickets had come through.  Generally, only the wall iPads should be routed, and handhelds brought up to the office to charge. JH 86ed / counts on items : 86'd Rockaway ESB. JH Prep List : All cocktails due to leave the menu once we switch to Winter have been placed on the Do Not Batch list. JH

Thursday 12.08 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty good night. Kevin Geeks Out got a great Trees crowd before and after the show.  I discovered the marquee lights off at about 10:15. I switched it back on but in about 5 minutes it turned off again. I had to unscrew the bottom bit to be able to turn it back on. This happened yesterday as well.  Customer Comments:  I received a call from Trees saying that a guest was complaining of "a couple fornicating" in their seats. Dwight arrived right after I did. I found a couple in 2101 engaging in some type of sexual act. I couldn't see clearly because of a very dark scene, but I could see enough and smell to know that it was a sexual act. I asked them to leave, they complied but they were drunk and it took a while. They were talking out loud but not shouting. Took a couple of minutes to get them out but once they were in the third floor elevator they were walked out and left with no incident.  The main blog should have more details as I later lea...

Wednesday 12/7 Nick - Eliel

Manager Communication: Quiet night tonight. Smaller theaters did better at dinner round and the wiz had a good crowd but not a big Trees crowd.  BAR Staff Observations: Everyone worked well and got out at a timely fashion.  86ed / counts on items: Very low on Mystery Train.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Got one keg of Other Half. It was supposed to be three. The driver said he'll bring the other two tomorrow and I noted it on the copy of the delivery statement. They took 3 empties.

Tuesday 12.6 Nick/Edgar

Manager Communication : Pretty mellow day overall even with trivia in house. Building was empty by midnight.  I put 4 tables from the mezz in the landing by the back stairs. EA Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations : Eliel and Darius were well into their opening by the time I got there, but after trivia was underway and the building nor Trees ever filled out, I was able to cut Eliel and let Darius and Tevon handle Trivia. Last call was midnight since everyone was gone. EA Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : I didn't get a chance to follow up with Amazon regarding the missing Ricemilk. That should be done at some point tomorrow. EA

Monday 12.05 Edgar

Manager Communication:  Slow and steady day throughout the building with only the sold out No Budge of note.  I couldn't figure out how to turn off (or down if on a dimmer) the new light for the pool table. It's pretty bright and gives the Mezz a construction site at night like feel. EA BAR Staff Observations: Jenna and Eliel were well into their open by the time I arrived. Eliel had informed me about the frozen machines being improperly put back together and found two more hoppers with cracks in them. I will follow up with Sean regarding the break down and cleaning of the machines as it was his first Sunday night closing shift with the frozens by himself.  I don't think he was necessarily responsible for it as a couple bartenders informed me throughout the day that it was leaking product. I'll also make a general note regarding taking the time to put the machines back together in the weekly bar email. Special Events? No Budge - Sold Out Theater 2  Staff Meeting Agen...

Sunday 12/4 Eliel and Edgar

Manager Communication : Busy first round out the gate and the team was ready to go. Pretty good afternoon throughout, people had a good time watching World Cup. EL Dinner and late round slowed to a crawl. I was able to cut generously without impeding service. EA BAR Staff Observations:  Everyone did a great job and rocked the shift. Ashley was a great lead. EL Openers were cut before I got there, but Ashley and Darius held it down as the mids. After getting some batching done and rotating staff to make sure they go family meal. Ashley was able to do a stock and leave a little early. Same went for Darius in the lobby. He made sure to get Matthew through the rushes and was able to do another stock to leave him in a good place before I cut him. Lee overlapped through the dinner rush and the beginning of the late round to help Sean at Trees and after breaking down one of the frozen hoppers to find the source of the leak, I was able to cut him too.  Matthew and Sean stayed behind ...

Saturday 12.03 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Busy busy morning.  Elf and STB both sold incredibly well and kept Trees busy all the way through the morning.  Had a fair amount of people pop in to watch the World Cup while waiting for theaters to open, and then even more came through for Brunch Club. JH Dinner was just as busy with all theaters selling well including some sell outs. Black Panther continues to hold out and fill the theaters and Violent Night following pace during dinner. The first floor remained pretty sold during dinner and late rounds as well keeping the building moving at all times.  Is the kitchen still using our peeled oranges for the jerk tacos? We have a bunch in the walk in and to my knowledge we aren't using fresh squeezed for mimosas. If anyone has any insight on this, please let me know. EA BAR Staff Observations : Absolutely phenomenal job behind both bars today.  Both Ashley and Natasha set both bars up for success with full restocks before doors, and slid into...

Friday 12.03 Jenn/Nick

Prep List : There is a double batch of Horchata to strain tomorrow morning, which should be used to make Holy Mountain right away. JH Pay Outs : $10.00 (Limes) JH Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Baldor tomorrow.  Stumptown arriving Tuesday.  Harney & Sons arriving Wednesday. JH Maintenance : I may have figured out what was causing all the build up in the plunger cylinder on the glasswasher at Trees.  The last person to replace the Detergent replaced it with the Sani solution, which is a very similar color.  As the cycles were running without detergent, that may have caused the unusual build up we had noticed this past week.  Just a note for the weekly bar email to make sure we do not repeat the mistake. JH

Thursday 12.01 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Good evening tonight. Pretty good volumes at Trees and the spoons crowd was great before and after.  BAR Staff Observations : Ashley and Chelsea were great at opening, and got a lot of sidework and cleaning done during the first round.  Ashley was able to remove all the glassware from the back bar and ran the mats through the wash.  Once Tevon got in, Ashley was able to get some batching done before STB. JH Sick Leave/ Call outs: Natasha  Special Events? Spoons was good to Trees today. EL Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Both Th4 and Th1 had their thermostats taken off of the schedule overnight, so both theaters were incredibly chilly when we opened doors (Th4 was at 50°). JH 86ed / counts on items: 86 Mystery Train, Waiting on St. Germaine EL Prep List : Horchata needs to be made, but we are waiting on rice milk, which is due to be delivered on Monday.  To get us through the weekend, either myself or Nick will pick some up tomorrow so it can ...
