Monday 10.31 Jenn

Manager Communication : Th1 special screenings really carried the evening, and kept Trees full of guests throughout the second and third rounds.  Banshees and Triangle continue to hold steady. BAR Staff Observations : Eliel and Jenna were already open and ready for service at each bar by the time I got in.  Once Chelsea, Lee, and Sean arrived, Eliel did some batching and covered Chelsea and Jenna for a break before they got out of here a little before eight.  Jenna stuck around to get Trees through the Demons service push, a restock, and to give Lee a break. Wanted to note that Jenna and Lee were really great at handling the busier service pushes at Trees tonight.  For Night of the Living Dead, I stepped into service bar for a minute so Jenna could bus tables and Lee could continue to focus on guests, so service never hit a hiccup.  Jenna was primarily service bar for the two later rounds, while Lee handled guest-facing service, and both were exceptional. Hiring...

Sunday Oct 30th Eliel y Edgar

Manager Communication: Pretty good afternoon. EL Jenna was issued her written warning for her tardiness last Monday. She signed and asked to be more conscientious about her schedule in the future. She was very receptive to the feedback. The signed copy in her file and has been CC'd to Gil, Jess, and Nick. Both Darius and Jenna signed their updated wage change form. They were put in the folder located in Jenn's box.  New Hire Forms filled out alongside IDs and Vax Card scans. All has been bundled and sent to Gerard, Paul, and Jess. Evening was steady. Halloween had a good turnout and kept Trees busy up until 1100 EA BAR Staff Observations: Tevon and Gabrielle opened. Tevon did batching once the mid arrived. Gabrielle did a great job training Sean. Miguel and Lee were great mids. Tevon and Gabrielle both left around 3pm. EL Miguel and Lee stayed for a good amount of their shifts to keep the bars afloat with a good amount of walk ins and the crowd for Halloween. Everyone was gre...

Saturday 10.29 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : With the exception of Beetlejuice, brunch service was relatively mellow.  Walk in ticketing definitely buoyed a lot of afternoon showings, and service picked up as we got into the dinner rounds. JH The Dinner round saw a pretty solid round with all theaters selling a good amount. The first floor carried the late round and Halloween in TH1 saw a good turnout. EA BAR Staff Observations : Really great brunch service from both Andrea and Natasha, setting both bars up for the day and helping a lot of first time guests navigate the building.  Once Chelsea and Tevon got in, both bars reset and Chelsea got some batching done to set us up for the rest of the weekend.  Natasha got out of here a little after three, and Andrea was able to leave a little bit before five. JH Chelsea was able to get out of here a bit earlier since I didn't need two mids at one point with Tevon staying behind and floating between both bars until his shift was over. Gabrielle held ...

Friday 10.28 Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication: Solid night tonight. Steady in the bar from dinner till close. The theater rushes were not too busy, so I was able to cut the openers relatively early.  The Plex is down.    Saskia from NewFest came by and picked up the remaining NewFest items in the Bar Storage Closet.  BAR Staff Observations: Lee continues to have issues. He really seems like he means well, but he is just a little bit all over the place. I have yet to work a shift with him where he doesn't break or spill multiple things. I pulled him aside today after his second big mess of the night behind the bar and stressed the importance of focusing on one task at a time. I told him he needs to slow down and focus. We should all stress that working efficiently and thoughtfully is always better than working quickly.  Hiring/Training: Sean came in and completed his first full day of training. He seems like he is going to work out really well. His next shift is Sunday lobby brunch wi...

Thursday 10.27 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty good evening with Shouting at the screen having a nice Trees crowd.  Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations : Chelsea and Ian had great opens, and got a lot of stocking and sidework done during the first round.  Once Andrea and Tevon arrived, business definitely began to pick up at both bars.   Gerard printed menu inserts for Lobby Bar, which I left with Andrea, to be stuffed into Lobby menus once the first floor is routed. JH Ian Batched, Chelsea left after the dinner round Banshees slowed down. Ian left after the Shouting rush slowed.  FOH Staff Observations: Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Saskia from NewFest was supposed to stop by today and pick up the remaining NewFest items in the Bar Storage Closet.  Around 1:30pm, they let me know that they would be unable to come by today and that they would try to come by tomorrow.  Gerard walked me through the new wage forms that all staff need to sign in order to reflect the...

Wednesday 10.26 Edgar and Eliel

Manager Communication: Quiet start to the day and a mellow dinner round. The Faculty and Triangle of Sadness led the late round with both the shows being sold out.  Lee was issued a written warning for his tardiness on Sunday. He completely understood and took responsibility for his action. He also understands to be more vigilant regarding his schedule. The written warning is filed into his folder. EA Jenn, Eliel is leaving a quick note on the bubbler tanks after they're cleaned tonight to put the Practical Magic on the left side. Could you just make sure to touch base with the opener to make sure that happens so we can assess if its the hopper leaking or the cocktail causing it to stick open. Grimm Weiss was shorted on the delivery today. Noted in the invoice.  EA Good evening with the Faculty crowd at Trees!  Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Chelsea and Darius opened the lobby and Trees today. Since there was quite a bit of downtime, they were able to fully s...

Tuesday 10.25.22 Edgar/Jenn

Manager Communication : Very busy night all evening, with Decision to Leave and Triangle of Sadness doing well and Barbarian continuing to fill out its daily screening.  Trivia was super busy this evening, with a lot of large groups and regulars. JH BAR Staff Observations : Dylan, Eliel, and Tevon all did a fantastic job working what was a very busy Trivia, and keeping up with near-sold out theaters on the third floor.  Tevon was on the floor during Trivia, and Dylan and Eliel were both fantastic behind the bar.  Darius did a great job holding down Lobby solo, once Eliel went upstairs for Trivia, and did not really require any assistance throughout service. Trivia ran a little long this evening, wrapping up closer to eleven.  I was able to get Eliel out shortly after the last Trivia tabs were closed, and Dylan got out after helping reset the floor and restocking Trees.  Tevon handled the brief remaining minutes of service at Trees solo. JH Hiring/Training : Nick...

Monday 10.24 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication: It was a a pretty mellow Monday from open to close behind the bar. Triangle of Sadness did well in the smaller theaters for both dinner and last round. While the showing of New Nightmare drew a decent crowd. EA BAR Staff Observations : I text Jenna at 1:45 to see where she was, as she was scheduled to open Trees at 1:30.  She replied immediately and said that she had thought she was scheduled to close Trees.  Once she realized her mistake, she told me that she was, at minimum, two hours away, as she was driving back from Massachusetts and was in Connecticut.   I let her know that I would just cut her from the day, and that we would talk about it when she was in next (Sunday, 10.30).  She was very apologetic and I do believe it was a genuine mistake on her part, and I believe that a written warning will suffice.   I opened and worked Trees, with Darius coming in a little early (4:45) to take over Trees until Lee arrived. JH Darius...

Sunday 10/23 Eliel y Edgar

Manager Communication : Pretty good afternoon. Slow start, steady growth. The first floor saw a lot of the action today with a lot of a the theaters selling and there being a good turnout for Decision to Leave via both walk in sells and Mubigo. The late round was a bit quieter as the night progressed and slowed to a crawl afterwords with no visitors to Trees. The bar was able to shut down promptly after that. EA BAR Staff Observations : Good open from Natasha and Tevon. Lee was an hour late to his mid shift, we moved him to close into Miguel’s shift which was up. Ashley was great at mid. EL Ian was great in the lobby tonight and was able to run the shift pretty well by himself after Ashley was cut. I was able to assist with ticketing while he focused on drink tickets. Lee was great today in Trees, he was able to run the bar and do tickets by himself once it slowed down. He still has some work to do when prioritizing tasks as he still gets frazzled at times, but there is improvement....

Saturday 10.22.22 Edgar/Nick

Manager Communication: Great busy start to the day with the Newfest Filmmaker Brunch in Trees and their screenings in Th1, 2, and 3. Th 4 did very well with Coraline and Black Adam. EA Smooth night, steady, but never really busy. The engagement party was nice to have. ND Customer Comments: I had a woman at tree's let me know that there was a guy that kept talking to her, it was unwelcome, and asked me if i could intervene. I let him know that she was not interested in chatting, and that he was welcome to hang out, but not to bother other customers. He asked for his tab and told me that "he wasn't even hitting on her". He settled up, and got a little aggressive with me but left shortly after. I'm glad the woman said something because he did not seem like a very understanding guy. She was very appreciative. ND BAR Staff Observations: Andrea and Darius did a remarkable job setting up Trees for the brunch party today. They were on top of their checklists and had ever...

Friday 10.21 Nick/Jenn

Manager Communication : A lot of walk-in ticketing this evening, with the first floor having a couple of sold out, or near sold out, shows in the second and third rounds.  Very busy dinner round, with a slightly less busy last round. BAR Staff Observations : Really great work across both bars this evening, with both bars really pacing themselves with regards to ticketing, service, and guests.  Openers were cut once the third round was through its initial service push, and Dylan was cut around 11:30, after helping Ashley pre-close Trees.   FOH Staff Observations : The dinner round went very smoothly due to a lot of great support by servers at both bars.  At Trees, Jasmine, Julianna, Kat, and Kim were especially helpful as drink support. 86ed / counts on items : 86'd Appleton and Dry Curacao.  Ashley put some Grand Marnier in a cheater bottle to get us through until more arrives.  Maintenance : It appears that the blue solution at the Trees dishwasher is...

Thursday 10.20 Jenn

Manager Communication : Quiet first round, but a very busy dinner round across all three floors.  BAR Staff Observations : Ashley and Chelsea did a great job setting up both bars, and were able to get out of here once they split up batching. Very well prepared for the weekend service and events.  Andrea held down Lobby the remainder of the night without issue, and Ian and Tevon deftly handled Trees service, navigating a few pops of service after dinner round movies let out.  FOH Staff Observations : RM was especially helpful today at Trees, and has been great about running dirty glass racks at Trees and encouraging other servers to do the same when possible.  Hiring/Training : Sean Nishi came in for a trail at 5:30. He was able to get some time behind both bars, and seemed pretty at ease with the set up and asked a lot of pertinent questions. He will be reaching out to Nick to set up a training schedule.  Sick Leave/ Call outs : Eliel called out this morning due...

Tuesday 10.18 Nick/Edgar/Jenn

Manager Communication : With the exception of Film Feast and some Newfest service pops, pretty mellow night overall behind the bars. JH BAR Staff Observations : Eliel and Ian were well into service by the time I arrived, and both bars were well prepared for service.  Trivia didn’t really take off tonight (congratulations to Ian and Tevon, The Bar-Barians, for taking home second place), so Eliel was able to get some batching done and was out of here before nine.  Once Wendell & Wild let out of Th3, Ian helped Tevon navigate the crowd, and was out of here shortly after ten. Andrea and Tevon closed each bar without issue. JH Pay Outs : $212.00 (Employee of the Season Gift Cards) JH Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Baldor tomorrow. JH

Monday 10.17 Nick/Edgar

Manager Communication : Slow day for the bar theater-wise. The focused was shifted for the Newfest party.  BAR Staff Observations : Pretty slow day, but the open was on point. Darius and Tevon started the day and prepped both bars to run seamlessly. Dylan came in for a mid and helped give the openers a break since they were going to have a long day. By the time Lee and Jenna came in, there was nothing left to stock, but we were able to shift our focus over getting ready for the event.  Dylan stuck around until close to help clean up, and Jenna was great about popping upstairs after cleaning the lobby to see if we needed any help.  All in all, the bar staff rocked the service! Special Events ? Newfest after party. EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items : Low on Phony Negroni

Sunday 10/16 Eliel and Edgar

Manager Communication : Pretty busy morning with New Fest and Wallace & Gromit. The evening was pretty slow with the exception of one showing of Triangle of Sadness. The last showing of Woman King had pretty good walk in sales as well. EA BAR Staff Observations: Openers and Mids were great! Everyone was in great spirits all day and were super helpful with each other. Ashley got a lot of batching done early so I was able to cut her a bit earlier. EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes:   Stour n Pours. EL 86ed / counts on items:  Chardonnay still.   Prep List: Holy Mountain. EA Maintenance: I really didn't want to be the one to have to be the one to report about casualties to the new frozen, but during cleaning, Chelsea broke a couple of the pieces. Both replacement pieces can be found here:  https://1stclassbeverage.com/elmeco/page/5/ Elmeco #45 Horizontal Augar Gear $15 Elmeco #46 Augar Complete  $251.84 Alternatively, I found a food safe silicon sealant that ...

Saturday 10.15 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Save for the NewFest screenings, it was a relatively laidback brunch service today.  NewFest definitely brought a great crowd to Trees during the DJ set once the screenings let out. JH Evening was very smooth with a solid dinner round in the smaller theaters and a decent sold round in the bigger ones. Last round was very mellow otherwise. EA  BAR Staff Observations : Really great opens from Chelsea and Dylan this morning, with each of them keeping up with busy mornings at both bars.  Once Gabrielle got in, I was able to get Chelsea and Dylan breaks, and then Chelsea got out of here after getting us caught up on batching. JH Tevon and Gabrielle held it down for the mids and were cut when it slowed down enough for Lobby to run solo and for Trees to run with Miguel and Ian.  The close was easy, breezy, covergirl. EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes : During afternoon service, there were a few occasions where kitchen was unresponsive to manager calls ch...

Friday 10.14 Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication : Good night tonight. Service went well.  BAR Staff Observations: Good crew tonight.  86ed / counts on items: Chardonnay 4eva Prep List: Solid going in to the weekend, Chelsea got us all batched up today.

Thursday 10.13 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication : Pretty quiet first round, but things definitely kicked off during dinner, with the Brooklyn Horror screening bringing a welcome crowd to Trees. JH It was a very good busy evening. Trees lounge was bumping.  Customer Comments:  I answered a call at lobby and helped a guest find wheel chair accessible seat in theater two for BK Horror, which was already pretty full and GA for that show. I was able to get a couple to move, and I got them a round, then I was successfully able to seat the WC guest.  While that was happening, a guest that seemed fine at Trees a little earlier was just about passed out drunk at Trees. She was only served a beer and two shots at Trees, and later I found out she had a few rounds in a theater earlier, but when I got to Trees she was already being taken care of by Nathaniel, and later Sarah (runner) who both were friends of hers, and Sarah ended up taking the guest to their house. More information in the FOH blog.  BAR S...

Wednesday 10/12 Edgar y Eliel

Manager Communication: Low key night. Triangle of Sadness had a pretty good first showing and there was a decent evening trees crowd.  BAR Staff Observations: Smooth uneventful shift. Everyone worked well together and openers were out pretty early.  86ed / counts on items: Chardonnay  Pay Outs: $6.20 for Kombucha Lost & Found?: Found a guest's clutch wallet and found the guest in th5. Safe return.

Tuesday 10.11 Edgar/Jenn

Manager Communication : Pretty quiet start to the day. The new frozen machine is up and running in the lobby with the QR code to the instruction manual under the lobby bar register. EA Dinner round definitiely picked up, and Candyman did really well, but it was a relatively quiet night at both bars, with no one really hanging around Trees for a post-Candyman nightcap.  JH BAR Staff Observations : Pretty easy open for Chelsea and Eliel. Eliel and I had time to unpackage and set up the frozen machine. Purrs like a kitten. EA Eliel and Chelsea were able to get out as the second round began to wind down.  Lee and Tevon handled both bars throughout the evening without issue, and got out of here relatively early due to a quiet last hour of service. JH 86ed / counts on items : 86'd Ruby Hibiscus.  There is a (1) count on Chardonnay. JH Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Baldor and US Foods arriving tomorrow. JH

Monday 10.10 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Pretty mellow morning for a Monday holiday, with decent pops of service spread throughout the building.  The first two round screenings of Lyle, Lyle did well, with lots of little kids seeing their first theater screening this morning, and The Woman King and Barbarian continue to hold strong in the smaller theaters. JH Dinner saw a slowdown and I was able to get the openers out at a reasonable time. Other than that it was a smooth night. EA BAR Staff Observations : Jenna and Gabrielle were well on their way to opening up the bars by the time I arrived, and were well prepared for doors.  Jenna kept pace with all of the Lyle, Lyle service pushes, and we never ran low of water cups.  Gabrielle navigated a very busy Lobby, and was prepared to answer guest questions about service, as well as direct any guests with strollers or scooters where they could park them for the duration of their screenings. JH Darius and Lee took over for Gabrielle and Jenna an...

Sunday 10/7 Eliel and Edgar

Manager Communication: Light start to the day with an easy transition to dinner. Sundays on Fire brought out a decent crowd. Evening was just as mellow with the transition happening very organically.  There was an instance where I had to ask a man to leave the lobby because it looked like he was sleeping on the seats by lobby bar. He then had his arm down his pants "scratching himself," but the motions looked like he might have been doing something more. I believe this may be the same man Gil had an interaction with a few weeks back based off the comments he said towards me as he left. He did leave without incident, but left a really unfavorable smell in the lobby. EA BAR Staff Observations:  Ashley and Natasha opened trees and after their stock, it was good to go. Ashley did feel like she the prior stock from the night before wasn't enough, but after talking with Eliel, it was just a small number of odds and ends. Ashley did batching before she left.  Miguel and Chelsea ...

Saturday 10.08 Edgar

Manager Communication: Didn't hear too much from the opening managers regarding bar open, but from what I gathered it was a solid open and segue into STB. The change over was just as easy with a more than manageable dinner round from both bars. Late round slowed down and cuts were made where seen fit.  BAR Staff Observations: Opening was easy from what I heard from Gil. Both Natasha and Andrea were cut shortly before I arrived. Bars were fully stocked as the only real busy time was during STB and they have their own product. Lee and Tevon were our mids today, and they handled the transitions well enough to cut Andrea and Natasha. Miguel, Darius, and Ian came in to close.  Sick Leave/ Call outs: Jenn was out today. I added her sick hours to the calendar.   Special Events?   STB (130 tickets) Twilight (45 tickets) Staff Meeting Agenda notes: Instruct bartenders to not leave glassware in three sink (email notes) 86ed / counts on items: 86 Hibiscus water, orang...

Friday 10.07 Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication: Relatively quiet night tonight. Service went really well.  The mosquitos are taking over the building. My kill count was high tonight.  86ed / counts on items : Low on Ruby Hibiscus, as we are waiting on a delivery. JH - Delivery isn't coming until next week unfortunately they were OOS this week. -ND Prep List: Eliel got us all batched up going in to the weekend.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping :Bar cart for Trees arrived today, and is currently in its box back in Bar Prep. JH - Bar cart is built and ready for use - ND

Thursday Jenn/Eliel 10.06

Manager Communication:  Pretty busy night at Trees with the wedding at Mezz and before during and after Spoons tonight. Pretty great crowd. All went pretty smooth EL BAR Staff Observations: Glad to have Dylan back. Openers and closers all worked great together for another successful shift. EL FOH Staff Observations: The Spoons crew did a great job. There were also plenty of hands which helped run drinks. EL Special Events? The wedding at Mezz went great. Chenelle is a Rock Star.  EL 86ed / counts on items: Malbec Pay Outs: $8 (cereal for STB infusion) JH  $22.50 Extra whole milk for spoons. Had to run to the bodega after Spoons ran out of whole milk.  They also consumed most of the milk I purchased. We did have about 12 cartons to begin with but that wasn't enough We should definitely keep this in mind for Saturday. EL  Mobilebytes Issues: Dylan was unable to clock in. I checked his Movilebytes account and he is marked as ‘active,’ so I’m unsure what the issue i...

Wednesday 10.05 Edgar/Eliel

Manager Communication : Pretty slow start to the day. It was still pretty cold and dreary outside. EA Nice evening. Great Trees crowds.  BAR Staff Observations : Ian and Chelsea opened up today and had an easy open. However Chelsea had an incident this morning with one of the napkin holders on the back bar. There was a nest of bugs in one of them (possibly baby roaches?). Sara informed Gerard and Matthew and there is an exterminator coming in tomorrow to check out the lobby. EA Pretty easy evening. Gabrielle closed Lobby and Ashley closed Trees.  86ed / counts on items: Malbec is on a 4 count.  Prep List : We might need more Cinnamon Espolon for STB? We have 1.75 bottles.

Tuesday 10.04 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication: Despite being rained out for most of the day, we had an easy open and trivia night. Nothing major to note. EA Customer Comments: Had two guests approach the bar for one more beverage post movie. I didn't get a chance to investigate what theater they came from. Tevon asked for ID and only one had one. Considering they looked very young, I backed his choice not to serve them.  Just putting this on everyone's radar to make sure servers are being as proactive carding guests as much as the bar is. I can't comment on whether or not they had a drink inside the theater, however.  BAR Staff Observations: Lee and Ian had great opens. Jenn was able to catch them up on missing Firewalk and it was relative smooth sailing. After Gabrielle came in to close, I moved Lee upstairs to work the floor for trivia. I ran him through the motions and he was very personable with guests and happy to help out. I was able to get both Ian and Lee out by around 1030pm and Tevon clo...

Monday 10.03 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Pretty mellow start, bar was opened and functional with ease. The rain gave us a slow start, but we were busy during dinner for the No Budge event and a fairly decent late round in theater 1. All and all a decent Monday. EA BAR Staff Observations : Great day today with a tight bar staff. Jenna took care of the Lobby with ease and Lee alongside Natasha ran Trees. Lee stayed a bit longer to help us with the No Budge  crowd that basically stayed until last call.  Special Events ? No budge sold out.  Staff Meeting Agenda notes : I meant to mention this over the weekend, but on Saturday we had servers take rollies from Trees during busy pushes in service.  This left us down a rollie twice, and caused a slight back up in glassware at Trees because we did not have an available rollie for dirty glassracks during a flip. I do not know if we want to add another sign to the Trees Lounge glasswasher corridor, or if we could just reiterate to servers to no...

Sunday 10.02 Eliel/Edgar

Manager Communication: Rainy and gray day today. Wonka started us off strong today while Woman King continued to sell strong throughout the rest of the day. We had a pretty solid dinner with most of the smaller theaters selling really well and Bros doing well in TH2. Later in the evening was a lot more mellow and quiet. EA BAR Staff Observations:  Tevon and Natasha held it down for the opening and were just about wrapping up and stocking when I got in. They stayed for family and to help rotate out staff to make sure everyone ate. Chelsea and Lee came in for mids and stayed until the dinner rush calmed down and left Jenna and Ashley to an easy close. EA  Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: Benedictine, Peach Tea, Athletic N/A, low old forester Bourbon EA Prep List: Old Fashioned Keg, Earl Grey Peppercorn Syrup. The Hamlet cocktail needs 4oz of Benedictine once we get it in. EA Maintenance: The bubbler at Trees seems to be leaking on the side with the practical ...

Saturday 10.01 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication : Daytime business was definitely led by a lot of rainy day walk ins, which kept all floors busy from when we opened doors.  Willy Wonka sold great, and flew through Lemonades and Strawberry Lemon slushies, so make sure to stock Trees with a ton of both for it tomorrow. JH (Eliel, we were crushed nonstop so I had some lemonade and strawberry lemonade made to at least start, but we might need more).  Crazy busy dinner with a lot of traffic at Trees so between that and the strong dinner sales for 1/2/4/6, it felt nonstop. Woman King pretty much sold out for three rounds and Bros did incredibly well today.  The wedding reception had a blast at Trees/Mezzanine. It ended up being closer to 70 than the initial 40, but moved people around accordingly. EA BAR Staff Observations : Really great opens, service, and communication between everyone today at both bars. JH Dinner Staff crushed it. Both Tevon and Chelsea were in for mids, but after the closers got in...
