Manager Communication : Pretty quiet. I pushed back both closer's and Eliel's shift back a bit.  EA BAR Staff Observations : Despite being slow, both Darius and Chelsea kept busy with the daily tasks until I cut them when the closers came in. EA Smooth close. Nothing to report. EL 86ed / counts on items: Grimm is back! EL Prep List : Both bars have full Neon Demon plus a lot of backup. So maybe some more tomorrow? EA Pay Outs: $18 Tangerine juice.  Lost & Found?: I found a poster from DC super Pets that might have been left behind from Trivia. It's by the L&F bin. EA Maintenance: Not quite Maintenance, but Trees was pretty cold all day so Eliel upped the temp, but the theaters seemed really cold as well. EA At one point the lobby was at 64 degrees. Manager Communication : Another mellow first round, but with the special screening in Th1 and Trivia, we were busy at the bars all evening.  The later round screenings of Nope in Th4 have also sold really well the last couple of nights, which is a nice third round service boost. BAR Staff Observations : Really great work across the board this night at both bars.  Tevon held down a pretty busy lobby bar all evening once Eliel swung upstairs to Trees to work the floor during Trivia.  Gabrielle and Lee were great up at Trees, navigating a very busy service bar along with Trivia guests.  As Trivia was winding down, The Reverend was just letting out, so Trees had a decent crowd all the way up until last call. Special Events? Trivia was busy this evening.  Not completely packed, but it was a great crowd.  Edgar put cardboard cutouts in the numbers we place on tables, making them much more visible. Manager Communication : Quiet first round, with a lot of second and third round screenings picking up in sales as we entered dinner round. JH Dinner was pretty quiet as well. Had the staff on cleaning and organizing tasks and cut Jenna after there were nothing else to assign. EA BAR Staff Observations : Everyone was in a pleasant mood despite it being pretty slow. Staff took initiative on stocking backup bottles and cleaning/organizing. EA Special Events ? Screening of Panic Room had about 60 or so. None of which made it to the bar for post film drinks. Manager Communication : Pretty slow Brunch  with the Iron Giant having the most action.  At some point yesterday or before an unlabeled keg that is similar looking to the Narragansett was tapped on the Grimm line. We don’t have another Grimm to tap so I 86ed it until we can figure it out. EL   Another mellow day, the bar pretty much ran itself and was on top of service. EA Customer Comments :  I received a call from Trees at about 4:30, saying that a guest ordered Queso & Tots and 45 minutes had passed, I called down to the kitchen and they rushed the order, I spoke with the guest, apologized and comped their food. I offered a round of drinks but they declined. They thanked me for checking in on them and were happy when they got their food. EL There was a a couple sitting in 201/202 in theater 7 for the 4:15 showing of Bodies that came out 3/4ths through the movie to lobby bar and asked to close out their check. Manager Communication : Mellow morning, with The Iron Giant being a great start to the day.  Sales grew during the day, but remained fairly low for a Saturday. JH Evening was just as mellow and made cuts accordingly. Did last call around 1220 after nobody else came to the bar after the midnight credits. EA BAR Staff Observations : Andrea and Natasha both had great brunch opens, well prepared for service and the rest of the day.  Once both mids were in and both bars were stocked, Andrea got out of here and Natasha was cut once Chelsea had finished batching.  JH Mids were out after about 5hrs. I kept Darius till last call to support Miguel. And to help break down a bit. Manager Communication: Slow and steady. Not much happening.  BAR Staff Observations: Tevon and Chelsea opened, Natasha closed Lobby and Tevon stayed and closed Trees. More below. Sick Leave/ Call outs: Lee came in but said he injured his back while changing in the men's room. We cut him and Tevon stayed to close Trees Lounge.  Prep List: Ready for the weekend.

Manager Communication : Hectic first round. After opening we had the fire alarm go off. Before that I went up on the roof to speak to the workers after both Sarah and I smelled burnt rubber in theater two. First we thought it might have been coming from the projector room, but after going onto the roof, I found two workers heating the binding agent to patch the roof. I asked them to stop since the smell was flowing into the theater, but they said they needed to finish.  We reopened for dinner round, but it was mellow thereafter. EA Very mellow evening for the last two rounds, with most of the theater action was at lobby bar. EL Customer Comments : Several opening round guests received passes to a future show. EA BAR Staff Observations : Bar was closed a little sloppy, but I touched base with Lee when he got in and he apologized immediately citing where he didn't close well. We talked about making sure the closes are consistent and well executed and he responded very positively....

Manager Communication : Fairly mellow evening, with The Mummy and Bodies Bodies Bodies selline fairly well.  The Mummy brought in a great crowd to Trees before the screening, and a smaller crowd once the film let out. Trees actually had a decent crowd all the way up until last call at midnight. Manager Communication : Easy straightforward day. Barebones staff and everyone was able to easily handle their sections. EA BAR Staff Observations : Ashley opened and closed lobby bar today. She praised Darius' close and says it has been one of the best closes she's seen lately. Lee opened trees and seemed to have struggled a bit claiming he did not have time to do an opening stock. I believe it was more an issue of time management and idling around, but I didn't get a chance to investigate it further. However Trees was pretty stocked and regardless and was ready to go. Jenna took over after Demolition Man was seated and Lee was cut shortly after.  Special Events? Demolition Man did relatively well. No one really came to the bar afterwards to drink. Manager Communication : Another slower day, so we I was able to cut a little more aggressively and repurpose some bar staff to help clean and get DOH ready. EA  BAR Staff Observations: Tevon and Jenna opened and got out pretty much when the relief bartender arrived. Andrea stuck around until the 715 of Bodies, but it was clear after the initial drink rush that she could get out earlier. I worked with Miguel a lot today on the importance of cleanliness behind the bar because I wasn't sure he got the weekly email. I did my DOH walk through with him so he could see what we look for and what he could look for as well during his down time. He also took the time to scrub down all of the prep area. Manager Communication: Another mellow day. Openers were cut relatively early after finishing sidework and stocking. Theaters 4 and 6 were pretty full for the last round and Nope had a good amount of people so I kept Gabrielle until midnight when most of the movies got out. Not a lot of action at Trees afterwards so I cut her loose. EA BAR Staff Observations: Everyone did what they could to remain busy. I had Eliel organize the walk in and get rid of syrups from R&D that we wouldn't be using anymore. I also walked the gang through a DOH walk through as I was doing it to get them back into the routine of looking for the small things that may hurt us with an actual inspection. Everything was cleaned a stocked for the next day. EA  Prep List: We're gonna need a keg of Strawberry Mansion at some point tomorrow. It kicked near the end of the service. Manager Communication: Pretty chill day. Nice dinner pop at Trees before Bodiesx3 and Nitehawk Diaries.  BAR Staff Observations: Chelsea opened Lobby and Ashley opened Trees. Chelsea did some batching after closers arrived. Andrea and Tevon closed. Ashley got out after the Bodies rush.  86ed / counts on items: Aperol Prep List: We'll need some more Neon Demon and Bullet train syrup, but we're well stocked going into the weekend. We'll need more Mr. Fusion but we'll need Aperol Maintenance:  The middle door of the lowboy by service had a piece fall and it isn't gliding as smoothly as it should and now it doesn't stop and goes both ways. The piece is in a rocks glass next to the Firewalk. This item has been added to NPP Maintenance.

Manager Communication: Nice evening. Pretty busy at lobby bar with great crowds before Mo Better Blues and Bodiesx3 and after Mo Better.  BAR Staff Observations: Chelsea and Darius opened. Chelsea batched after Gabrielle arrived and everyone ate. Darius stayed until the last Bodiesx3 opened and Trees calmed down.  Smooth service throughout the building.  Hiring/Training: I walked Katrina through cleaning Trees after it closed. She came behind the bar when Miguel was still closing and I told her she had to wait until the bartender was done closing.  Special Events? The band before Mo'Better Blues was great and the audience was really enjoying it.  Prep List: All set for tomorrow Pay Outs: $91.60 Entertainment $85.65 transportation.  Maintenance: There was a metal piece found by the the lowboy at Trees. I couldn't figure out where it fell from. I left it in a rocks glass by Firewalk with me. 

Manager Communication : Pretty mellow day in the theaters, with dinner round doing fairly well, along with Th3/5 in the last round.  Trivia was very well attended and everyone had a blast, with lots of new faces in the crowd tonight. JH BAR Staff Observations : Ashley, Darius, and Tevon absolutely crushed Trivia service tonight.  Darius took the floor, while Ashley and Tevon held down the bar throughout.  Once Trivia wrapped up, and the floor was reset, both Ashley and Darius were able to get out of here. Miguel was also a rockstar tonight, coming in a little after six to cover Jenna's Lobby Close shift on the fly.  He handled service without issue, and did a great job closing.  JH Sick Leave/ Call outs : Jenna Brewer was out sick today. Manager Communication : Despite being down one person, service went off smoothly once the closers got in. It was a pretty slow day and I was able to cut as needed. Volo came by for their last happy hour of the season and left their bag and bases with us. I put them in bar storage. EA Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Darius handled lobby bar by himself once he got in at 430 and never felt overwhelmed. The same goes for Ashley and Lee in the Trees Lounge. Drink tickets went out in a timely manner. Ashley received some distressing news today near the beginning of her shift today and had to take a few minutes off the floor. Jenn went to go speak with her and after a bit she was back behind the bar. Manager Communication: Pretty mellow day overall. Eliel cut the openers before I got in since the only big movie worth noting was Sundays on Fire. Afterwards, afternoon and dinner rounds remained roughly the same. EA   BAR Staff Observations:  Jenna and Natasha opening Lobby and Trees, respectively. Everything was tightly stocked and they were off early. Tevon and Miguel came in for the mids, but were also cut relatively early. I did have Miguel do a lot of cleaning and to get acclimated to the daily sidework sheet in the lobby. So cleaned out the bottoms of the lowboys and cleaned the panels. Ashley organized Trees and got a lot of housekeeping done. EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes:  The Bar staff isn't labeling wines or milks after opening. Manager Communication : Slow morning, but a great turn out for Crooklyn, both in Th4 and at Trees after the screening with the DJ setup. Later screenings seemed to building in sales steadily throughout the day. JH Dinner was just as mellow, with only a few screens selling a bunch and the last run of Bodies being slow.  Bullet Train and Elvis did great downstairs. EA. Customer Comments: I had to comp a a portobello sandwich today. The guest commented that "the bread was just inedible." EA BAR Staff Observations : Chelsea and Tevon were great at opening both bars, setting both floors up for success with very solid stocks at open. Jenna and Natasha helped get each bar restocked when they arrived, with Tevon getting out of here around three and Chelsea getting out a little after five after getting batching done for the day. JH I was able to get Natasha and Jenna out pretty early pretty much after the dinner rushes. They were able to stock relatively early and assist where needed....

Manager Communication: Smooth night tonight, everyone worked really well. It was also a pretty early last call with all the movies being on the short side. We called last call at midnight.  BAR Staff Observations : Chelsea and Ian had good opens, and were able to stock up the bars very well before open.  Ian was able to refill the upper cupboards above the backbar at Trees, labeling out well liquors for easier access during service.  Make sure to touch base with bartenders throughout the week to let them know that they should be checking the cupboards at open, in order to familiarize themselves with what is and is not stocked with back ups. My notes from service last night.  I think Eliel needs to be made an Administrator on Blogger so he can edit already-started blogs. BAR Staff Observations : Ian and Jenna did a great job opening.  As mentioned below, Chelsea was not feeling well this morning, and Jenna was able to come and cover her opening shift, arriving around 2:00pm.  Chelsea had been in communication with me while setting up coverage, so I was able to give Jenna a headstart at Lobby by helping open before she came in. JH Sick Leave/ Call outs : Chelsea called out, as she was feeling very poorly this morning.  Jenna was able to cover her shift on short notice, so staffing remained the same.  Added to Sick Calendar.  JH Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Casamara was 86'd last night, but we still had three cans downstairs in Lobby.  Just a reminder to check both bars and the walk in before 86'ing product. Manager Communication: Good night. Very great crowd for Firewalk with me with a strong pre-show presence and a lot of Firewalk with me sales.  Jenn has notes that are saved as a draft. Unfortunately I was unable to access them. I am able to preview them but not edit or highlight.  BAR Staff Observations:  Tevon and Andrea closed Trees. Jenna got out after the theater 3 Nope rush and some stocking. Ian did some batching and left after the Firewalk With Me rush.  Prep List: We'll need a keg of strawberry mansion tomorrow. Still have one on deck. 

Manager Communication: Pretty chill evening. Nice dinner pop for Nope and then jungle Fever which had a nice trees audience before and after. Some good R&D thinking of Autumn. All went pretty smooth. Customer Comments: Helped a couple of guests find their cards.  BAR Staff Observations: Pretty great night. Darius and Chelsea had great opens, Ian and Gabrielle great closes. Chelsea was able to leave after batching and stocking, Darius stayed through the Jungle Fever pop and stocked before he left.  Special Events? Manager Communication : We were able to get some R&D work done and had some initial tastings. I think we have some solid contenders for some unique fall drinks. EA Definitely had some decent service pushes during the second round, but the last round was definitely more mellow. JH Customer Comments : Had a guy come in to Lobby around eleven and ask Jenna where he could buy tickets.  She informed him that our box office was closed for the day and that he could purchase them online, or come back tomorrow.  He seemed to accept that answer and walked away.  When Jenna finished closing and went upstairs to Trees, he was still in the Lobby and tried to make conversation with Jenna, implying he was interested in her.  She just ignored him and took the staff staircase upstairs.   He popped into Trees for a moment, but quickly left.  While Jenna was telling Lee what happened, two women came up to the bar.  Lee asked if they needed anything, and they sai...

Manager Communication : Slow and steady day. Was able to get some R&D done and the bar basically ran and breaked itself when needed. EA Customer Comments : Had to assist with a guest who seemed intoxicated in the theater, yet did not have a single drink upon entering. Jeanette and Jason could elaborate further. EA BAR Staff Observations : Ashley and Eliel did a fine job opening, with a pretty mellow first round.  Business at both bars definitely began to pick up once Darius and Natasha arrived to close.  JH To add to that, everyone handled it in stride and there wasn't a big need to move anyone around. Manager Communication :  Steady day for the bar and then a quiet evening. We did have an incident where trees lounge started flooding by the dish pit. We're missing the screen for the washing machine and it cause napkins, twists, and other debris to clog the trap and build up the water. I pulled out all the debris and the porter team squeegeed all the water. Otherwise it was a smooth night. EA Customer Comments : Javier Aguilar, a guest from Friday night returned a CC of Barent G Roth. The cards were switched when checks were returned. Manager Communication : Pretty chill brunch afternoon, with Nope leading the way in sales, but both kids movies rising in numbers steadily throughout the day. Dinner came at us hard with Nope continuing to dominate and Bullet Train climbing to high numbers in theater 2. EA BAR Staff Observations : Andrea and Tevon had great opens, and needed relatively little assistance throughout the morning.  Natasha was able to help both bars restock once she arrived.  Chelsea got some batching done, and once she wrapped that up around3:45, both Andrea and Tevon were able to get out of here. Touched base with both openers, and other bartenders throughout the day, about the importance of doing a full open, making sure to keep note of paper goods and Trees cocktail specifics in the early part of the shift so that no one is left scrambling during the dinner rush.  Led to a much smoother brunch to dinner transition this evening. Manager Communication: Busy night tonight for theater rushes and in the bars. No issues with service.  BAR Staff Observations: Ashley was running circles around the other trees bartenders tonight. She had some feedback on some responsibilities that should be delegated to the opener, mid, and closer. She is going to write it up for us to look at this week.  FOH Staff Observations: I had to call for drink support at pretty much every rush. It was only needed for about 15 minutes each time,  but it is still not something that is happening automatically.  Prep List: We were able to prep very heavily tonight. We should be solid going in to the weekend.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Plum bitters are not coming until Sunday. Can we please add them to the seven sorrows batch as soon as they come in?

Manager Communication :  Busy service bar for dinner as Nope held strong numbers for dinner and then boosted up again for the final showing of the night., but also front facing Trees was consistently busy in between shows and I'd say for a good part of the evening. Felt like guests were looking for somewhere to escape the heat and chose to hang out with us. Gabrielle was great about coming upstairs to assist the dual rush. EA BAR Staff Observations :  Chelsea completed her Cocktail Quiz yesterday with Eliel, and Gabrielle completed hers today. JH We had a math boo boo while Chelsea was batching but it was easily remedied by making two kegs of back up strawberry mansion instead of one. This resulted in no product lost and will pretty much keep us set all weekend. Manager Communication: Good Day. Busy dinner round, busy Spoons before and a pop after the show at Trees.  Customer Comments:  A guest named Jan Heisey came in and said that she planned a picnic for 20-22 people at 11:30am on Saturday 8/6 and she wants to bring them here for brunch if it rains. They would love the Mezz. Her number is 917-400-6958.  I let her know that at that time it would be very easy to accommodate them.  BAR Staff Observations:  Chelsea and Darius had great opens. Manager Communication : Dinner round was definitely the busiest, led by an incredibly fun Film Feast in Th3.  The third round screening of Nope in Th2 kept Trees service bar pretty busy. and Trees was host to a lovely crowd once Film Feast had wrapped up. BAR Staff Observations : Lee was great down at Lobby, and was able to offer some helpful hands during Film Feast service.  Unfortunately, he forgot to clock out and missed a couple of things closing Lobby Bar.  I'll touch base with him about it, and think it would be helpful if we reminded closers (particularly new hires) to walkie for a bar manager when they're done closing, so that we can do an in-person walkthrough. EA BAR Staff Observations : Everyone worked very fluidly today without any incidents. Ashley was more than capable of running the lobby bar while Tevon and Lee supported each other at Trees.  Eliel got a bunch of batching done today for our house syrups and batches.   EA Staff Meeting Agenda notes : A couple of instances where Tevon and Lee were refering to a cheat sheet for our Trees cocktails.
