Wednesday 8.30 Eliel/Jenn

Manager Communication : Wild at Heart brought a great crowd to Trees before the screening, and service was busy throughout.  We had a couple people hang out at Trees for one last round afterwards, but they were all out of here shortly after midnight. JH BAR Staff Observations : Good Opens from Andrea and Matthew. Matthew was great help with the Neon Demon situation at Trees (Maintenance). EL Andrea was able to get out of here once Jeshua was settled in, and he was great down at lobby all evening.  Matthew got Darius through the initial service push of Wild at Heart, and got out of here after ten.  Darius took care of the late night pop of guests leaving the Wild at Heart screening, and closed shortly after. JH Pay Outs : $16 #5200 Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Baldor tomorrow.  All other deliveries, save for Southern, arrived today. JH Maintenance : Neon Demon at Trees had problems soon after I set it to Slush at about 12:30pm. It froze in the tube and pushed the spi...

Tuesday 08.29 Nick/Jenn

Manager Communication :  Fairly mellow evening, with The First Slam Dunk being the biggest pop of the night servicewise JH BAR Staff Observations :  Miguel came in early to help cover for Lydia (see Sick Leave/Call Outs), and held down lobby solo all evening without issue.  Jeshua stayed up at Trees until Tevon was done restocking and batching, and was able to get out of here a little after eight.  Tevon handled Trees the rest of the evening, with the crowd dwindling in-time with theater last calls. JH Sick Leave/ Call outs: Lydia was not feeling able to to work today due to the situation over the weekend in Williamsburg. They said they had a panic attack, so I added them to the sick calendar. We were not able to arrange coverage last minute, so I opened the lobby and bartended until Miguel was able to get in for his close. He was able to come in early to help out. -ND     Special Events?   The First Slam Dunk sold out Th3, but service was never t...

Monday 8/28 Eliel

Manager Communication:  Slow day. Good event. Okay trees crowds but not great.  BAR Staff Observations:  Good team. Smooth shift. Closers did the frozen machines today.  Special Events? Balvine tasting went pretty smoothly and was low key.   86ed / counts on items: Ooze. Manhattan not on a count yet but very soon. Low OJ Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Need OJ. Got US foods and a little baldor today.

Sunday 8/27 Eliel & Jenn

Manager Communication : Pretty smooth afternoon. Great ticket sales but didn’t really translate to bar action EL Most theaters sold out this evening, but coming off the heels of a Barbie month, all hands were prepared for theater pushes.  Additionally. most guests were not ordering as much as people have been, so service was busy, but never overwhelming.  Trees definitely had a small crowd during the night, but most everybody cleared out shortly after the last movies started. JH  Customer Comments : Plenty of newcomers today, so I spoke with and prepped bartenders about the need for clear communication and patience today, particularly at lobby, which they were all able to do. JH Had some guests who were pretty upset about shows being sold out and tickets not being available fifteen minutes after showtime during the last round, but they all left without issue. JH BAR Staff Observations : Great opens from Natasha and Maya. Leads were great and we were able to get openers ou...

Saturday 8/26 Eliel , Jenn

Manager Communication : Pretty easy opening. Busiest theaters were in the first round then just fizzled out. EL Mellow for a Saturday night, which gave us plenty of time to set up for tomorrow.  Trees had a pretty regular ebb and flow of guests throughout the last seating, which began to dwindle once the last movies had sat. The pool table continues to bring in people, and bartenders have been much more on top of walking through mezz to clear tables and check on guests. JH BAR Staff Observations : Great opens from Natasha and Maya. Lydia came in as a mid and it gave us space for Natasha to batch. Once batching was done Natasha was out and Maya was cut by 4, when Ashley came in. EL Lydia was able to get out of here once Matthew had settled back into lobby after his annual review with myself and Gil.  Once Trees had gotten through the dinner round's main service push, Ashley was able to head to the back to batch and organize the walk in so that we are well stocked for tomorrow....

Friday 08.25 Jenn/Nick

Manager Communication: Pretty Quiet night tonight. Service went well.  Hiring/Training : Kelsey had her first day training behind the bar, opening Trees with Ian.  It was a relatively mild first round, so she was able to prepare a lot of theater tickets with Ian, and then shadowed Matthew as he took bar guests.  She seems to be pretty aware of what arenas she needs to study up on, which we should be mindful of as her four training shifts are split over three weeks. JH 86ed / counts on items : 86'd Cab Franc.  It has been ordered, we are just waiting on delivery.  Jarritos will not be delivered until Monday morning, so we should keep an eye on the big bottles we have stocked behind the bars in case we need to purchase some more over the weekend. JH Prep List: Ian took care of kegs and trees cocktail prep tonight. We should be good going in to tomorrow.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Baldor arriving tomorrow.  Stumptown arriving on Tuesday. JH

Thursday 8/24 Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty easy almost slow shift. Trees had some good pops through the last barbie seating. BAR Staff Observations: Great team today full of leads! It was a pretty easy shift and everyone executed at the height of their abilities.  86ed / counts on items: 86 Cabernet Franc. We're out of Jarritos bottles, but I got three 1.5 liter bottles from Prospect Market and they weren’t very expensive.  Pay Outs: $7 Jarritos.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: We received peach tea and phonys.

Wednesday 8/23 Nick/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty good night. Smooth service, nice trees pops and karaoke.  BAR Staff Observations: Great team today. Openers and closers alike. Ashley batched us up.  FOH Staff Observations: Alana was very upset about the situation with the drinks in theater 7.  Special Events? Last round of service for the birthday event in theater 7 were run very late because of routing issues. I routed 7 regularly at 10:30pm after everyone got their first round drinks and forgot that Cinema/Private isn't always set up to route. When Alana alerted me that th7 tickets weren't printing in either printer I went to the ipad, unrouted it, and went through every table with her and re-rang everything to Lobby bar. I then grabbed the tickets, took them upstairs, quickly made the drinks with Ashley and ran them to the theater 7 station.   Otherwise the event went well and nobody complained about the last round of drinks.  Pay Outs: $100 Karaoke Susan Mobilebytes Issue...

Tuesday, 08/22/23 Ashley/Nick/Jenn

Manager Communication : Lobby has seen a pretty big increase of walk-in ticketing sales the last few days, so that is definitely something to keep an eye on when you have a solo bartender downstairs.  Trees had a couple good crowds throughout the night, mostly fueled by the Park Slope Parents group and the New Strains afterparty.  The crowd cleared out by eleven, with only staff at Trees once we got to last call. JH Customer Comments : I noticed Yuengling bottles in Mezz, brought it to Jenn's attention who spoke with the PSP group in Mezz. PSP stated it was a group of three men playing pool, and Tevon clarified three men did go up to Mezz without purchasing anything separate from the PSP crowd.  The Mezz was pretty crowded because of the parents, so the bottles only came to our attention well after the pool players had left.  Just something to keep an eye when checking Mezz.  AB BAR Staff Observations : Having the extra body today up at Trees definitely helped w...

Monday 8/21 Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty good shift. Busier than expected. Smooth service.  BAR Staff Observations: Great opens from Jenna and Darius. Jenna got out pretty early and Darius stayed for Hard Target and the short film event at Trees. Natasha and Lydia took care of the rest of the night and had good closes.  Special Events? Feirstein Collective Short Film Presentation was great. Good Trees business. About 40 people all together.  Prep List: Regular stuff R&D comp checks: Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Baldor, US foods and amazon sparkles came today.

Sunday 08.20 Eliel/Jenn

Manager Communication : Another mellow evening, with Trees getting a decent pop of guests and theater service around 8:00pm.  Several people hung around Trees this evening, but the crowd was mostly gone by eleven. JH BAR Staff Observations : Maya was able to get out of here before I got in, and Matthew was cut right after a restock and Tevon's arrival.  Overall, service was very smooth at both bars, with the whole team well seasoned from the past month of Barbie.  Miguel got Lobby through dinner and restocks with Jeshua, and was out of here around eight, with Darius sticking through the final seatings and resetting Trees before heading out.  Both Jeshua and Tevon closed each bar, and cleaned frozens, without issue. JH FOH Staff Observations : Alex mentioned that he caught a guest vaping in the last round Th6 Talk to Me before the movie started.  He told them that they were not allowed to do that in the theater and the guest then left and did not return.  Ju...

Saturday 8/19 Nick/Jenn

Manager Communication : BRIC definitely brought a great crowd to Trees during the dinner round, and theaters were busy, but not completely sold out across the board.  Staff seemed grateful to be busy, but at a lesser throttle than the last few weekends, so service was pretty snappy and consistent throughout the evening.  Had a small crowd come by Trees after the BRIC concert, but mostly just for one round. JH BAR Staff Observations : Bar team really did a great job keeping up with the BRIC crowd, all while making sure restocks/refills and theater service never missed a beat.  Miguel swung up to Trees to help with that crowd, so we had four bartenders total up there until Ashley arrived.  Ashley completed a restock to reset for dinner, and then I was able to get openers out of here.   Matthew pretty much held down Lobby solo, with Lydia popping down to help him with some of the initial service pushes of the last round.  Lydia was able to get out of here...

Friday 08.18 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty good Friday. Busy Trees and mostly busy theaters. I broke out two cases of pint glasses as we were very low.  BAR Staff Observations: Pretty good team today. Smooth shift. Ashley replaced tarnished Trees Menus, Tevon batched a bunch. Matthew and Ian had great closes.  Jeshua did a great job at Lobby but towards the end of his shift he told me he felt like he was coming down with something. He said he didn't think he could work tomorrow. He put his shift up and asked for coverage through the group text. I told him to get in contact with Nick in the morning and let him know definitively.  I don't think he'll be able to make it tomorrow but he held optimism and thinks he can sleep it off.  EL Staff Meeting Agenda notes : There appears to still be some confusion for some servers over the difference between a comp and a void.  May we can include a note reiterating the difference in this week's staff email. JH Prep List: We'll need some m...

Thursday 08.17 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty good evening at Trees lounge. Busy bar crowds and a great Viva crowd. Can't believe a single movie sold more than Barbie. EL BAR Staff Observations : Ashley and Tevon had to dip out of the meeting early to open Trees and Lobby, and they were great about communicating and prepping garnish and juice in tandem.  First round was a breeze at both bars. JH  Tevon and Ashley batched and got through the last big seatings before they left. Both Matthew and Jeshua had good closes. Matthew is becoming surgical with the Trees Closes. Gives Chelsea vibes. Great to see. EL FOH Staff Observations: Great teamwork today. EL Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Feedback from servers and runners was beneficial during the bar portion of the meeting.  I was able to speak to Nick for a minute afterwards to give him an update, and he'll speak about it at Tuesday's meeting.  Sarah approached me after the meeting with a great idea to help runners in training get more ac...

Wednesday 8/16 Nick/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty smooth day. Dinner rounds live and everything else lower with smaller theaters filling nicely. EL BAR Staff Observations: Openers Matthew and Lydia got out at a decent time today, Closers Ashley and Natasha easily handled the rest of the shift. EL Ordering/Receiving/Shipping:   Stumptown is ordered and confirmed for Friday.  We have some stuff coming tomorrow from Baldor.  We will need a thorough NA order going in to the weekend.

Tuesday 8.15 Nick/Edgar

Manager Communication: Trivia was booming again. It's definitely one of our main attractions and it's absolutely bringing in new faces every week to join us. Packed house plus busy dinner barbies made for a busy afternoon. EA Customer Comments: I answered a call in TH1 for the 8:45 Barbie where a guest was allegedly being disruptive and coming into the server's station. She left a flag for servers with the seat number written on it with their order for the table (511). I alerted the station to this flag being left and brought it to at least Vincent's attention that this had happened. She came in a second time to which Jared answered the call and spoke to the guest again about putting a flag up if they needed assistance and she returned to her seat.  We received a third call from the station in which the guest wished to speak to a manager according to Monica, at which I made my way to the guest to speak with them and they alerted me that they have been waiting this entir...

Monday 8.14.23 Edgar/Eliel

Manager Communication: Very mellow start to the day compared to the last few weeks. Dinner picked up for a well sold rounds and kept the bar moving. Not much bar traffic until the dinner round. EA Pretty good evening. Dinner round was great and Trees had a nice crowd till about 10:30ish. EL Customer Comments: During the last round a guest called for a manager from Lobby bar and complained about the temperature in the theater and said she was freezing. After a few cruel words the guest, who seemed a little drunk, returned to treatre 4 where I adjusted the temp and got her a tea she asked for.  I looped back to see if everything was okay, and it seemed good. The film ended about 30 minutes later. EL BAR Staff Observations:  Quick and easy open for both bars. Lydia and Darius went deep into some much needed side work before the opening rounds took off. Service went by without a hitch and there were no issues at either bar to my knowledge. EA Darius batched. Closers did pretty goo...

Sunday 8.13 Eliel/Edgar

Manager Communication:  Busy Sunday overall today. Once again, barbie filled out our big theaters with TMNT and Oppenheimer filling out their screenings as well. Trees lounge had some guests, but for the most part they were just waiting for theaters to open up.  EA Customer Comments: Had a guest who alerted us at Trees today that their kid vomited right outside Theater 1 by the steps leading downstairs. After Vlad and I got on it to get it cleaned, the parent alerted us that there was even more inside the door leading to the TH1 service station.  Timing was not ideal as it was as the theater was letting out and it created a bottleneck as guests tried to leave the theater. Eliel and Wyatt came by to help direct traffic so Vlad and I could get it cleaned up ASAP. EA BAR Staff Observations:  Bar staff hustled today. Again, since numbers seem to have leveled off, service never felt too hectic. The morning crew got our product batched and we were able to cruise through th...

Saturday 8/12 Eliel-Edgar

Manager Communication: Pretty good afternoon. The first round was on the mild side but it felt good.  At about 5pm a guest came to Trees and told us the projector in theater 4 went down during the 35mm Oppenheimer. It was near the very end. I immediately contacted projection, let them know what was happening and I told MODs on my way to Theater 4. I made an announcement to the audience and Nathaniel distributed passes. Lillian told us the 35mm projector was not coming back and she played the final minutes in DCP. After that Nathaniel and Wyatt continued to monitor the situation. EL Barbie held her grip on the theaters today taking us into the last seating with sold out shows. Dinner was mostly sold out and the last round was effectively sold out. However, but the last film getting out, the building was effectively empty with everyone filing out, save for a few stragglers joining us for last call.  During the day, there was good presence at Trees, but noticeably less than the ...

Friday 8.11.23 Edgar/Nick

Manager Communication: Pretty busy night, but felt very manageable compared to the last three weeks. Service was smooth.  BAR Staff Observations: Solid start to the day with both Ian and Tevon opening up the bars. While Ian had a busier first round at Trees, Tevon was able to do some prep in the lobby. Easy first two rounds at Trees as Barbie continues to taper off. EA FOH Staff Observations: Good crew tonight! Prep List: Ashley made a million things tonight, but we will still need a Paloma, an ooze and a manhattan project.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Still waiting on Union Beers. Should be in tomorrow. EA

Thursday 8.10 Nick and Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty busy night. Broke out some rocks glasses as we were low at both bars. Pretty busy Trees with the private 6 and staff screening along with Barbs. EL Customer Comments: A couple of guests at Trees got partial delivery of their food order and the other items died at theater1. EL BAR Staff Observations: Great team today. Great hustle.  Ashley held down Trees most of the night and Natasha closed. Tevon opened lobby, batched and helped at Trees during the dinner rushes. Matthew held down lobby rest of the night. Great work.  Hiring/Training: Simran canceled her trail today, and will not be coming on to bartend. We are setting up more interviews for this week.  Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Peppermint Tea, Barbie Sparkles and Fly traps came. EL

Wednesday 08.09 Edgar/Eliel

Manager Communication: It seems like Barbie is finally leveling it off. Both opening screens had really good numbers, but it was a break from the constant sold out screens we've had for the last few weeks. The first round was really all about service tickets as we didn't have a real HH crowd until after it let out.  By the time the dinner round rolled about, pretty much all seats in Trees were taken and the energy in there was great. Lots of people hanging before/after their film. EA Great rest of the night. Busy but not soul crushing. Still busy though. EL BAR Staff Observations:  Both Darius and Matthew had solid opens and squeezed in some prep between helping direct guests and service tickets. Matthew held down the service bar in Trees for the first two showings of Barbie without breaking a sweat. Darius held down the lobby until Jeshua arrived. EA Rest of the night went pretty smooth. Ashley and Jeshua had great closes. EL Hiring/Training: Simran missed her bar trail today...

Tuesday 08.08 Nick/Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication:  Another beefy day with well sold Barbies and other movies throughout the building. Temperatures were much better than yesterday.  Traffic at Trees was pretty high throughout the day with a crowd always present and spikes right before and after films got out. EA   BAR Staff Observations: Strong work from all staff again. Maya really muscled out those service tickets tonight and kept us going. She's really come a long way since her new hire review and has improved in all aspects.  Eliel got us prepped for the day and then switched gears into batching after family meal. Darius ran the lobby solo while Tevon and Maya crushed service at Trees. EA FOH Staff Observations: I stepped in between runners Mike and Dequan today unexpectedly when they were in what looked like a heated argument in the kitchen today. I separated them and had Dequan go towards the TH7 corridor. I ran into Nathaniel at Trees service and apprised him of the situation as I was sw...

Monday 08.07 Jenn/Edgar

Manager Communication: Pretty humid day, but we stayed steady for a Monday. Dinner round was pretty much sold out with the afternoon round doing big numbers as well. Late round was a bit quieter by comparison, but still had a few sellouts. Barbie is still going strong, but looks like it's starting to wrap up gradually. EA BAR Staff Observations: Everyone pulled together for another busy Monday. Albeit, slower in comparison to the last few weeks. Jeshua and Ian kept pace with the tickets up at Trees and were constantly able to cycle glassware into the bar in between rushes to keep us afloat. Eliel set us up with juice and garnish before Gabrielle took over for the rest of the lobby shift to allow Eliel to go home and rest.  Great work from all staff today. EA FOH Staff Observations : Servers in the sold out 4:30 Th1 and the 6:25 Th2 Barbies were really great about pacing out ticket orders and having people run trays from Trees.  Kaya and Raekwon in particular are generally real...

Sunday 8.06 Edgar/Jenn

Manager Communication: Steady brunch into early afternoon business levels. Lots of drinks tickets, but also very manageable. Not a big presence in Trees this morning/afternoon as people just shuffled quickly into the theaters. EA Similarly steady evening with theater service, but without much of a lingering bar crowd at Trees. JH BAR Staff Observations: Clean and and efficient open from both Natasha and Miguel today. Both were in high spirits and communicated well regarding who was taking on prep for what. After both mids were in, Natasha filled in any gaps with her batching and we were set to go. EA Once the initial dinner servic epush settled and both bars were restocked, both openers were able to get out of here.  Jeshua and Jenna prepped some more citrus for Trees so we are well stocked for open, and then Jenna held down lobby solo once Jeshua was cut around nine.  Darius stayed up at Trees almost until last call to set Tevon up for an easy close while navigating steady dr...

Saturday 08.05.23 Edgar/Jenn

Manager Communication: Steady start to the day. Not a huge crowd in Trees, but with Th2 and Th4 going, it kept us busy for a bit. Barbie dominated the day again with Oppenheimer selling out the smaller theaters as well. EA Very busy across the building all throughout the evening, and up until last call.  Broke out a box of pint glasses to help account for breakage over the last week, and it did seem to ease some of the glassware strain at Trees. JH Customer Comments : Had two unruly teens call Matthew a slur after he declined to sell them late round tickets due to our Age Policy.  They exited right after, and Matthew only filled me in a little later and said that he was not overly bothered by it.  I did remind him that he is always welcome to call a manager if he gets any undue pushback from guests, especially if they use abusive language, but he overall seemed okay. JH BAR Staff Observations: Slower start for Miguel vs Natasha. He didn't set himself up for success, so it...

Friday 08.04 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Very busy day. Not just movie busy but Friday bar crowd busy. It was a bit intense but we made it through it like ultimate warriors. EL BAR Staff Observations: Great openers Tevon and Matthew stayed late making sure everyone was covered. Ian Ashley and Gabrielle closed and did great helping each other and getting through the night. Wonderful team. EL FOH Staff Observations: Great hustle today all around the building. EL Staff Meeting Agenda notes : Please reiterate to staff that glasses go in grey racks and water cups go in brown racks.  We had a couple instances today where several racks were incorrectly filled, causing confusion and a delay in theaters being set with enough water cups for service. JH Prep List: Make Coconut lime slushy first thing, but both bars are stocked. We need orgeat. EL Ordering/Receiving/Shipping : Still waiting on SKI, but we have enough Ebbs to get through the weekend.  More Barbie glitter will be arriving tomorrow. JH Mainte...

Thursday 08.03 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Pretty busy day. Barbie continuing to shine and the smaller theaters all doing pretty good. Trees was busy all night till the end. EL Customer Comments: Gave someone a ticket refund who purchased tickets a couple of minutes after his friend. He caught it right after they printed. EL BAR Staff Observations: Openers were great setup and stayed late providing much needed help. Ashley led Trees into the last round, Tevon batched a whole bunch. Matthew was great help at lobby and helped with boxes in the walk in, Ian and Gabrielle worked to close Trees at a timely manner but they were both very spent by the end of the night. EL FOH Staff Observations : Had an incident with Grey at Trees while the 6:25 Th1 Barbie was in their initial service rush and Th2 was in the middle of flipping.  They were flipping their theater on the third floor and left two dirty racks stacked in the sink.  From the service pass I called to them that if they weren't going to run one o...

Wednesday 08.02.23 Edgar/Eliel

Manager Communication:  Pretty busy day again. We've been consistently selling 1500 tickets during the week it seems which is a GREAT problem to have, but also a little tiring. EA Busy Busy Barbie. Lobby Bar got hit hard with the 5/7 split and a lot of ticketing services I jump down to help a bit so I could run three on Trees and it all went well. EL BAR Staff Observations: Strong open for both bars. Albeit, Th1 and 2 quickly took the reigns upstairs with a lot of foot traffic in the lobby as well. Jeshua powered through the first two rounds while Gabrielle held it down in the lobby to start some prep.  EA Closers did good and openers stayed through final seating. EL  FOH Staff Observations: Staff Meeting Agenda notes:  Bar Meeting: I see too many bartenders going to the service side to complete a front facing guest’s cocktail. I think we need to map a way for staff not to cross streams so much. EL 86ed / counts on items:  Pinot Grigio will be on a count soon....

Tuesday 08.01.23 Edgar/Nick/Jenn

Manager Communication: Consistently busy at Trees from open onward with crowds from both Barbie and Trivia as well. It made for a tight service.  I printed out QR codes for use on Trivia nights that were laminated and put on the tables to help with the menu shortage that occurs on this night behind the bar. I'll be sure to gather feedback from the bartenders after tonight. EA BAR Staff Observations: Solid open from Eliel and Tevon. Tevon had about 30 mins post doors before he got hit by the sold out theater, but jumped right into service. We did get bogged down a bit with both bar guests and tickets, so I was able to hop in and dig us out of the weeds. EA Between Trivia and Barbie, having Maya as a mid was hugely helpful this evening.  Service was pretty much nonstop from 5:30 up until last call, and everyone behind both bars really did their utmost to keep service running smoothly.  Was able to get Eliel and Tevon out of here right after Trivia concluded, and Maya did a ...
