Sunday 11/24/24 Ian/Lauren (w/ a cameo by Gus)
Manager Communication:
Oh boy, what a doozy. Miguel called out sick, which I was aware of because he texted the bar team and myself early this morning. I got in early to open and man the lobby until Patrick arrived. When I got to the building a little before 9 I received a text from Nathaniel that he was ill upon arriving to work and left before I arrived. I scrambled to get everything open, but figured things would get a little more complicated when doors opened at 10:35 until the floor MOD arrived at 11:00 (as I was the only MOD on site and had to man the lobby bar) - so I texted Gus and he was able to pop by and save the day - manning the lobby bar which allowed me to assist Maya for the sold out Wicked screenings before Tevon arrived for backup at 12. The servers were great in helping me get the theaters set up (which is new to me - but went well!). - IP
I think it would be helpful if the floats got cleaned in the kitchen, these glasses don't do super well in our rotation. Happy to pre-rinse, when I don't break the part necessary-LB
May I just say to see this theater as busy as it was, was within my expectation and I am both amazed/exhausted.-LB

BAR Staff Observations:
Maya and I opened the building as a dynamic duo this morning until Gus was able to swing by and bail us out. She was aces. Kept calm through a very very busy opening, and rolled with the punches being understaffed. Absolute legend. Same goes for Patrick who kindly was able to come in 45 mins early to help get us up to speed for the afternoon craziness. - IP
Well, well, well this Sunday continued in the smashingly successful department of glass breakage. I dropped a rack doing mad dishes during the 6-7pm push. The team broke a number of glasses on that rickety rack in the pit. It is lopsided. Let's swap it out. -LB

Vlad was super helpful during this situation cleaning up the glass and just staying on track.-LB
Maya got covered in Select because a shitty pourer fell out, it also happened to land in a bottle of jack. I will label so we can account for the loss. I am going to order more pourers if I can't locate any, there was a shortage tonight.-LB
Maya rocked a 10 hour plus shift cranking it out in the pit. She is awesome. I gave her two tokens for the hard opening/long day.-LB
Wow, A team all over today. Tevon stayed for 9 plus hours to get us out of the weeds, I gave him a token. He had lost one that someone turned in, in the garbage.-LB
Jeshua missed family meal entirely due to busy pushes. He was restocking and being the sicko at setting the bar up with glassware etc. He ordered the lambchops and put a token for it, so I comped the rest as a Staff perk since he didn't get a chance to eat. I know this is frowned upon and I will keep an eye on making sure he takes food for later at the very least.-LB
I am so impressed with the work ethic, the cool and calm that this bar team maintains. They are really impressive. I think all the bartenders working without their main soda gun deserve tokens. They all step up.-LB
Patrick kept us in good shape til 11ish, I gave him a token for his excellence steering the busy late shows.-LB
Darius was also a solo-rockstar in the Lobbby. -LB
FOH Staff Observations:
Incident report: Daniella let me know that a drunk woman was having emotions in the bathroom. She was ditched by her date and very upset. I gave her water. Nick was aware of this. Daniella and I comforted her. She was worried about her tab because her credit cards weren't working, Dani said she didn't have a tab. Eventually I walked her out where she met her date and got in his car. I asked her if she felt safe, she said no but got in anyway, she was being a bit dramatic. He was being reasonable and didn't want to watch the movie with her drunken behavior. I took a pic of his car's license plate just in case. NJ M49 UHU. I honestly think he will just drive her home. She was not interested in being told she was an unruly drunk. It is understood they were in Gladiator theater 2 10:15pm.-LB Nick was there to back me up outside FYI.
Sam had a difficult situation that left her tearing up in the service area. I checked on her. Some mom was mean to her after an entire row of parents and an entire row of kids all got put on one tab. Sam was tremendous and split the tab for her, but the kids moved around making the check erroneous. I think it is worth noting that Sam handled herself with grace in a situation explicitly caused by parents and unruly kids. Props to Sam.-LB
Hiring/Training: Bruce had to be reminded where to put dirty glassware as they put it with bars clean stack. I think a sign for the clean water cups could also help them know what's up when we end up having two stacks of dirty dishes during these banger sold out days.-LB
Sick Leave/ Call outs:
Miguel called out this morning. Nathaniel went home sick right after he got here, before I even arrived. - IP
Staff Meeting Agenda notes:
Staff Meeting Agenda notes:
It was mentioned in another blog, but I concur that the Glindade should be moved to the bubbler for the the busiest portion of the Wicked run. The drink was designed with the Barbie special in mind, and that worked great when it was in the bubbler. I think moving the PST into a store'n'pour is an easy fix. - IP
The chaos of the liquor room.-LB
Patrick mentioned stocking lobby bar more fully so it is easier for busy days like today, more shelves?I know the point is to not overstock, but certain things like wine mirrored wouldn't be bad.-LB
I am going to order magnetic labels we can rewrite and keep on the bar prep lowboy so people know what's in there, for times we add things for specific needs. These will also be useful on draft kegs I presume. -LB

86ed / counts on items:
86 Duck Scallion Pancake
86 Peppermint Tea
Very low on Earl Grey Tea
Going to run out of Elphaba. There is no more Pinot Noir ( 8 bottles just given to Trees Lounge), there are only 4 bottles of Cab Franc in the walk-in, none in the liquor room. -LB
Down to the last keg of Homecoming cold brew.-LB
Prep List:
All of the lemonade in the entire world. I batched 5 lemonades before Lauren even got in. I also batched a 1.5 batch of Peach Tea Concentrate, two cherry limeades, 16L of simple syrup and 14L of arbol tequila. I also strained the batch of Rage is Your Gift.
We will need to keep eyes on lemonade as we are flying through the Glindade (and lemonade in general). Once we get more of the Aloe Liqueur we will need to make a ton of Elphaba's Elixir, and get steeping on another batch of RAGE. - IP
There is going to be a need for major batching tomorrow. The stamina to do any more than the infused wine has left my body running around. Made some honey syrup.-LB
I am going to make Rage is my gift with the last of the Gulp Hablo red wine. -LB

Having some small cans or bottles of pineapple juice behind each bar would be good, since it is listed as a mixer. There was none stocked at Trees tonight. I know we have the large format, but perhaps a more expiring resistant size would be advantageous. -LB
Lost & Found?: A man lost his Big Sur hat last night, it is in the merch closet labeled, I emailed him back so he will pick it up.-LB
Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Gonna need to restock mad shit. Plowing through product. -LB
Maintenance:
When I was in the dishpit, I was rinsing some root beer float glasses, and the mechanism for the water hose broke. I tried to fix it but the rivet disappeared. Seems like an easy fix, but need a replacement part for the hinge.-LB (In true Jeshua fashion, he fixed it temporarily with a paperclip.)

I would also like to prioritize swapping the wire shelf for the other steel part. It has caused repeated issues in slowing down service.-LB

Mobilebytes Issues:
I had never routed the popcorn up to Theater 1/2 - and was the only MOD on site, so I followed the directions on the sheet. The popcorns successfully printed to the popcorn station in the service station, but were still printing in the kitchen. That was easily taken care of, but later on, for some reason neither Wyatt nor myself could figure out, there was a lapse in drink tickets from Theater 1 to trees. Wyatt took a look at things and after the one snafu nothing was wrong for the rest of the time I was in - IP
