Monday 06.19 Jenn/Edgar
Manager Communication: This was a rough one. We opened up with Th4/6 with the same start time and both sold out, which definitely was a crunch at the top of service. And that level of busy-ness continued throughout the day, with the majority of theaters either selling out, or getting very close to it.
Honestly, beyond changing kegs or soda bags, I worked service bar at Trees from when we opened until just about five o'clock. Service ran smoothly, but the weight of the day was definitely felt across the building. However, staff was really great about pushing through and keeping service moving.
BAR Staff Observations: Darius and Lydia really did the utmost to set each bar up for success. As mentioned above, I was kind of glued to the service pass at Trees working tickets for the majority of the day, but I was able to touch base with Lydia and let her know to reach out for support whenever they felt it appropriate. Overall, they really did a fantastic job holding down lobby solo for the first part of service.
FOH Staff Observations: Really great work across the board today, with everyone really pitching in just after doors to make sure the building was set up as best it could be.
Staff Meeting Agenda notes: Just a reminder for Sunday closers to run water tests on the frozen machines before clocking out. We have had several occurrences recently where the Fire Walk With Me at lobby has leaked when the Monday openers replaced the product because the rubber gasket wasn't pressed in completely. This means Monday opener has to disassemble and then reassemble the hopper, on top of the rest of their opening responsibilities. JH
86ed / counts on items: 86'd Ruby Hibiscus, I Can Do Both. JH
Prep List: We're gonna need Firewalk, Lemonade, and Jungle Bird tomorrow. EA
Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Baldor arriving tomorrow. JH
We do have a summer break from holiday Mondays until Labor Day, but I am expecting July 4th (Tuesday) to be much the same as today, if not even busier. If we are doing a full four rounds that day we will definitely need more staff scheduled across the building. JH
Dinner round kept us busy as well, but like Jenn said, many staff members were running out of steam towards the end of the day. Bar kept it together throughout the day and ended their shifts strong. EA
Customer Comments: Got a call from Tevon towards the end of service regarding two women who were giving him a hard time and oscillating between being directly rude and then asking for "free birthday shots." When I came down to investigate, their speech patterns were erratic and could hold together a steady stream of thoughts.

In three consecutive sentences, they asked about leftover popcorn to have (and then to purchase with no intention to purchase because they kept insisting on getting it as a birthday present), talking about their birthday, and then asking us if we've seen one of their phones (they left it in the bathroom after going in and out several times. Also asking us to call their phone despite her friend having a phone in her hand.)
They pretty much looked somewhere between a hallucinogenic trip and on some sort of stimulant. In any case, I shifted their attention to me and away from Tevon and they continued bouncing back between being aggressive and pleasant. As I was trying to get them to leave, they kept splitting up with one friend running down to the lobby then running back up, while the other long haired girl going in and out of the bathroom. It was just a bizarre situation.
They didn't come from a movie, or to hang a the bar. I assume they came in to use the bathroom and then were just trying to get free drinks and food from the bar. Ultimately after one of the girls walked back to where Tevon was and gave him the middle finger, I began to escort them downstairs to de escalate the situation. I had to close the doors behind me because staff sitting at the bar (only people in the room) were commenting loudly on what happened and the one of the girls tried pushing her way back past me to comment back. I calmly talked to them downstairs in the lobby asking if they understood why I was asking them to leave for the night. One relented, while the other continued to be aggressive.
I asked Wyatt to lock the doors before I walked them down so they wouldn't be able to reenter the building as he was acting as another pair of eyes should anything go sideways. They left without any further incident.
However, I did have to go back upstairs and ask the staff to close their checks and leave for the night for being antagonistic and lightly exacerbating the situation. I was pretty clear with them on why I was asking them to close out for the night, and despite a little pushback, everyone packed up and left for the night.
To be perfectly clear, I do not know exactly made comments to further the situation, but because of someone commenting, laughing or furthering the situation, I decided it was best (and fair) to ask all the staff to leave for the inappropriate actions. EA

Darius navigated a fairly busy Trees crowd for the first few hours of service, with a lot of calls for classic cocktails. He really was great about getting out from behind the bar to bus, and guests really loved the drinks he made. Sunday closers also really set us up with regards to stocking the walk in last night.
Tevon restocked Trees once he got in, and then covered lobby so that Lydia could also do a restock before Jenna arrived and the second round took off. Overall great communication and energy behind both bars today, over the course of a very long and busy shift. JH
There was consistent presence in the lobby to help navigate guests to where they needed to go. Lydia and Jenna handled everything in the lobby with ease. Darius and Tevon muscled through all the service pushes and took care of guests in Trees as per usual. Darius also helped me set up for Trivia tomorrow. EA

Brandon and Sal were not informed that the dumbwaiter was down until we were doing pre-shift, and, with the sold out opening round Th4/6, they were quick to pivot and problem solve in the remaining minutes before doors opened.
Additionally, shouts to Alex, Atlas, and Wilfredo for running glass racks up to Trees during the first round when they had some time before running trays. LaShae was a big help on both the first and second floor when they first arrived, too. JH
