Tuesday 11.15 Edgar/Jenn

Manager Communication: Slow start to the day. Openers came in and were ready by the pre-show (Eliel in Lobby and Sean at Trees). Dinner picked up with busy Black Panther shows plus Trivia. EA

BAR Staff Observations: Eliel opened lobby as per usual and was in great spirits. Sean came in to open Trees after a close last night and took a bit. It was his first solo close (last night) and open today. His first closing was a bit rough, but since he opened I was able to chat with him and pointed out areas of improvement. The bar top, back bar, and Mezz was messy and I stressed the importance of detail cleanliness right away.

He seems to be working on coming out of his shell, but Jenn and I noticed that he doesn't ask for help at all. It's not a red flag as we deduced he's trying to get everything down without help, but we'll work with him to ask for help when he's overwhelmed.

After Jenn suggested to go over the closing checklist that's in the bar binder with him again, he appeared more confident in his shift. I'll continue to monitor his work to make sure he knows that he has resources at his disposal.

Lee was late to his shift today. He was under the impression that he was in at 530 and not at 500. I reiterated the importance of checking schedulefly  to make sure he doesn't impede service. I believe he was in around 515. EA

Trivia went really well, with Eliel making their triumphant return to floor service, after a brief hiatus, and Sean and Tevon behind the bar.  The crowd definitely arrived much later than usual, but it was overall a very busy night.  Once Trivia wrapped up, Sean helped out with a restock, while myself, Eliel, and Tevon reset the floor in preparation for Batmen Forever guests.  Both Eliel and Sean were able to get out of here shortly after eleven.

Lee held down Lobby solo with very few calls for ticketing issues or related, and was very helpful in bringing back cleaned items to Bar Prep during his close. JH

Special Events? Trivia has been holding pretty steady with decent crowds since we hit fall, which does mean they tend to run a bit longer than the previously scheduled two hour run time.  Due to this, the last few Trivias have resulted in opening bartenders working 10+ hour shifts.  Granted, it is rare that they work more than twenty or thirty minute past ten hours, but they are consistently hitting the 10+ mark.

It is not really feasible to enforce an earlier out time for openers, because we have to wait for Trivia to conclude in order to reset the floor, which is a bit too much for closing Trees bartender and Bar Manager to do alone, while also concluding service.  Perhaps a regularly-scheduled Trivia Tuesday Trees mid shift may help belay the issue, if it is financially feasible and worthwhile. JH

Staff Meeting Agenda notes: As we are looking at highs in the 40s throughout the week, we have put the Patio seating to bed until we are back in warmer weather.  However, due to the new influx of tables, the Bar Storage closet has been tetris'd to the extreme, but we were left with two tables that could not fit.  For the time being, I placed both tables on the Mezz, still keeping the tables from crossing into the last two banquettes by the pool table, until we can find a better home for them.  Due to that, Mezz is up a total of two tables and three chairs.

Additionally, regarding stanchions: there are four stanchions kept in the Bar Storage closet to be used during service as needed.  Due to recent special events, we had an influx of stanchions at Trees and the staff staircases, and were up by six, which I did not catch until a little after one.  Myself and Tevon brought them back to the ledge under the back stairs.

Going forward, if we need stanchions beyond the four already in the Bar Storage closet, please be mindful of returning them to that ledge. JH

86ed / counts on items: 86'd Ruby Hibiscus and Teelings.

I reached out to Kim in Williamsburg to see if she has any extra bottles of Teelings that we could bring over to Prospect to keep the Banshees special going through Thursday. JH

Prep List: Practical Magic. EA

Over/Short on Banks: Trees was over $6.00. JH

Pay Outs: $66.16 (Staff Snacks)
$43.54 (Creme de Cacao) JH

Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Coconut Sugar has been ordered from Baldor, but will not be delivered until Saturday.  It goes into the Wakanda Syrup, so that is something to keep an eye on just in case we need to buy more before the weekend to keep up with stock.

Edgar is going to order NuFoamicide tomorrow. JH

Mobilebytes Issues: The Trees checkout report did not complete printing this evening after running the checkout report.  It did not seem to be an issue with either the ink or the paper, and we were unable to successfully print another copy.  Going by the cash sales reported at the top of the report, and subtracting the two recorded pay outs for the day, we were able to figure out what the drop was expected to be, which left the drawer $6 over.
