Manager Communication: Batman keeps Batman-ing, and kept Trees very busy all morning. Staff seemed well prepared and eager for the rushes. JH

Batman was rounded out by busy rounds all across the building through the mid and dinner rounds. Late Batman also turned up huge numbers, we sold out every show after brunch. Rushes were well handled all around, with no major hitches in service. No waiting drinks, no long ticket times. For a first weekend right into the fire of a major opening like this, the whole team turned in a great day. No major issues. JM

BAR Staff Observations: Chelsea and Jo did a great job opening. Chelsea handled two sold out Batman screenings once we opened no problem, and Jo was an absolute phenom at peeping garnishes for Trees and batching.

Jenna handled service bar very well during each Batman seating, and was a huge help keeping an eye on stocking and refilling frozens. Tevon was able to come in at 4, which really helped service at Trees as the bar crowd grew once we hit the late afternoon. And welcome back to Natasha K!  She slid right into service, and was a huge help restocking both bars once she arrived.

With these staggered Batman seatings, it is very important to stay on top of refilling the frozen machines and restocking product at opportune times. Timing it for natural lulls and new bartenders coming in let us avoid most major hiccups during daytime service. JH

Chelsea stayed through the beginning of the dinner round of Batman due to very heavy bar crowds on top of theater service, and then covered for stocking. Same with Jo downstairs, who was a prep machine for garnishes etc.

Jenna was definitely nervous on service during such a busy night, but I kept her there through the rush and she did an excellent job with Ian as Tevon took guest facing bar. She did break collins glass into both service ice wells right before Th2 sat, but we were able to hustle and get it fixed with no impact on service. Great closes all around as well. JM

FOH Staff Observations: Really great job by everybody this morning. Even during the heaviest service pushes I could barely fill a whole tray because servers (both in theaters and support) we’re always present and ready to run drinks. JH

This was the same in the PM. Not sure if it is the result of more staff, a new focus on support, great management of resources or a combination of the three but this is the best and most efficient drink running I've seen here. JM

Staff Meeting Agenda notes: The Iceberg takes a very long time to freeze at the start of service. If we could have the opening manager switch the frozen machines on when they come in, that will do a lot to help us ensure that product is ready for service at open. JH

86ed / counts on items: Count on Evil Twin Biscotti Stout. All available Mr. Black has been used to make The Iceberg. JH

We are out of Hamilton back ups, Kim is going to be generous and lend a few bottles tomorrow alongside the cocktails that Desmond is shuttling over. JM

Prep ListJo made Blood Simple, Fire Walk With Me, Hot Toddy, and Winter Daiquiri.

I made The Iceberg, Bloody Mary Concentrate, Bloody Mary, and Grapefruit Syrup.

Grapefruit Syrup will need to be strained first thing tomorrow morning so that a Paloma keg can be made and charged ASAP. JH

Ian made Firewalk, Michelada. Tevon made an Old Fashioned Keg. Strong stock going into tomorrow with well stocked bars. I also had Natasha pre-prep garnishes tonight so Trees opens with 3 quarts of lemons and limes to ease the load on that brunch service. JM

Pay Outs: $15 Grapefruits. JH

MaintenanceThe hot water/coffee machine up at Trees keeps flashing an error message and no longer has hot water. It has been reset several times, but to no avail. For the time being, all hot water and coffee must come from Lobby Bar. JH

The Ice Machine was also having issues, had to pop the cover off and found that it was also a water pressure issue. I checked the hot water upstairs and the tank itself had no readout on the screen save for the temperature, which was low. I reset the unit and it turned back on and eventually seemed to get back on track and is now pumping hotter water. Coffee machine and ice machine are working as of now.

Also, Angelo stopped by today. He measures for the planter boxes and the cabinets about the bar to fix them. JM
