Manager Communication:  It was a pretty busy day, but smooth until about 8:30pm, then we got slammed hard at Trees Lounge, from all sides for almost two hours. 

Customer Comments: A customer called while I was at MOD, looking for a lost credit card. I took down his info, including seat number, theater and time. I found his card and called him back within five minutes.

A customer complained that he was told to buy his ticket using his phone when he was at the ticket counter and wanted his $3 service fee refunded. Ashley said she tried to explain to him that she would sell him tickets but he went and did it anyway. I gave him the $3 dollars quickly. Later I felt a little bullied by him and I think I caved too quickly. He said that we either give him his $3 or he would take it from the tip. Ultimately I thought it prudent to just appease him and have him go to his movie. 

BAR Staff Observations:  I honestly thought I was going to have to help Natasha a lot more but as soon as things started moving, she did great. Most of the time I went down to check on her she had everything under control.  I jumped back a couple of times but only when tickets were coming from both printers and there were filmbot customers as well.  If I were down there alone I would’ve needed the same help. She really impressed me. 

Ivan had everything at Trees under control. 

Tevon was pretty good at swing. He went where he was needed at both bars. When the night crew came he helped support them and helped me batch a couple of kegs.  Having Tevon was key at making sure Lobby had anything they needed in order to be self sufficient when the action was at Trees Lounge. He's really great at falling back and supporting, and being customer facing at Trees but he needs some more Expo experience. When he's there, he's good, but he could get tighter at being a more commanding presence when calling out drinks. 

Ashley was great at Lobby close. Really had it under control as well.

Ryan Isi and Naaj started out pretty good. It was a steady busy when they clocked in and tried to eat family meal and they jumped in smoothly. At around 8:20ish when waiting for Theater 2 they had a big bar crowd and two were front facing and Ryan handling expo. When the tickets started to come hard, They didn't get back to Ryan quickly enough. I got Naaj to turn and come to us. Honestly he needed to do it quicker. He was eager to work but not focused.  Then they both turned to help Ryan and grabbed tickets when he was already juggling them.  I told Isi to focus at front facing which was still bumping and then Naaj broke a glass on the service well. I told him to focus on burning and cleaning that. Ryan and I worked on getting the theaters out and Isi rocked front facing. Naaj looked nervous and tried to help again but I asked him to just focus on getting that well ready and assured him that it happens to the best of us and he was going to be alright, and just to focus on getting that well clean and then supporting them. I kept forward and really made the rest of us look good to the front facing customers. 

After that the rest of the rush went well and they stayed in their zones and supported each other when needed.  The negative flips in Theater two really helped increase front facing business in Trees Lounge, but then we took a pounding on service. When I left Isi, Naaj Ashley and Ryan were all helping each other tiddy up, stock, and clean the frozen machines. We all got through the fire. Felt like a victory. 

FOH Staff Observations:  Most of what I saw of them was zipping down to grab ready trays for their theaters. They were fast and plentiful. 

Hiring/Training: Naaj was thrown into the deep end today. Maybe not the best day to introduce him to Trees Lounge but hopefully he'll come out stronger.  He did say that he couldn't train on Tuesday and couldn't work on Sunday 10/31.  I told him to talk to Jesse and Nick and to put his shifts up in the meantime. 

Special Events: I was sad to see the New Fest people take down the Step & Repeat, pack their stuff up and god home

Staff Meeting Agenda notes: Zone offense at Trees Lounge. 

86ed / counts on items: There were very few drops of Michelada left. 

Prep List: Made Hibi syrup and a few batches including two kegs Tevon helped me with. We need Paper Plane, Ginger Lime Slushi, lemonade, Ennui, and Michelada if we get that yuzu. Also make the blue drink blue again. 

Pay Outs: $14 for pineapple juice.
