Manager Communication: 

Really lovely brunch today, steadily busy, but never overwhelming.  Elf led the way in the morning and Sonic ticket sales steadily grew throughout the day. JH

Steadiness continued into the evening. Large but manageable ticket numbers and a good sized crowd at trees most of the night - including a large party that hosted an impromptu birthday gathering on the mezz. They brought a cake, and fortunately I got up there right in time to make sure they did not light their candles. I kindly asked them to shoot us an email next time they want to bring in a cake or anything, they were very understanding and assured me they would do so in the future. All good!  - IP

BAR Staff Observations: 

Tevon was a champ at Lobby this morning, and was able to get out of here shortly after four.  Natasha did a great job running Trees for the morning, and was able to get out of here once all closers were in. JH 

Downstairs was well-sold but mellow, so I got Lydia out of here around 7p. Matthew was aces in the lobby on his own. Brian, Patrick and Jeshua were a great team in Trees tonight. Patrick held down the service pass, Brian charmed the guests and Jeshua did his swiss army knife thing, making sure Patrick and Brian had all the assistance they needed. Got Jeshua out of here around 8:30p. - IP 

FOH Staff Observations:

New server Sean showed out tonight. He was a constant presence at the trees pass, and had lots of good questions. Also very gracious about receiving feedback. Happy to have him on board! - IP

Mentioned in the 86ed/counts on items section below, but let's table doing MB counts on specials until we get past New Year's. JH

Just putting this here so I don'f forget, but I think it would be a good idea for us to have a both location bar manager meeting sometime in the first half of January, and then a bartender meeting in the second half.  We've hit the ground running since Lauren was onboarded and Gus stepped into the Bev Director position (mid-menu change!), so I think a check in with bar staff would be worthwhile. JH

There was a serious dearth of pint glasses so we went ahead and opened up the cases in the liquor room. With the spread of kids movies through the new year, I'm sure we're going to need them. - IP

This was mentioned in another blog a little while ago, but at some point in the new year, it would be good to nail down some age policy and guest-checking for the trees lounge pool table. We have a large conglomerate of local young folk who congregate here on Saturday nights, hogging the pool table for hours and not spending any money. I know we have the after 7p policy, but the trees/trees mezzanine is a little bit of a grey area - what with showtimes that start before 7p carrying over into the later evening, and anyone being able to hang out in the lounge, etc. I'll try to brainstorm some ideas about how to implement some sort of system - but if we could all touch base about it, I think it could make the weekend evenings less of a hassle and potentially more lucrative. - IP

86ed / counts on items: 

There was some confusion from FOH staff this morning concerning the decision to put counts on drink specials as we batch them, which ultimately led me to make the decision to remove the counts for the time being.  As mentioned above in Staff Meeting Agenda notes, let's discuss this at the next bar manager meeting, and go forward from there. JH

Prep List: 

Strained the Rum Blend and batched us up some American Pie, so all Trees cocktails are back in action.  There appears to be enough of the Blend left over to make a second batch, just in case we need a back up before the week is out. JH

I strained the cacao water at 10p as requested. It's in a cambro in the brunch lowboy where I found it. Definitely need to batch Tornado Wrangler. Also more lemonade after the first round, I'm sure. We have one full batch of the Sonic Special, so probably more of that depending on ticket sales. - IP

Placed a Baldor order that will get delivered Monday morning, so feel free to add to it if you think of anything else we will need before Christmas. JH

We are out of black bar napkins - not sure if we order those or if kitchen does, but we need to order some. - IP

Maintenance:

The dumpsink in theater 1 was not draining - I got in there and it was just a water cup that was blocking the drain - but then when I cleared that, the floor drain was draining so slowly it almost overflowed. I stopped the dumpsink back up and then removed the floor drain catch from the floor and cleaned it. It's all put back together and draining like a dream! 

The troublesome holster for the dishpit chemicals has once again fallen from the wall. I can try to get it reaffixed to the wall tomorrow. At that time I also noticed all four of the chemical jugs were almost empty, so they are all freshly refilled and good to go for the Holidaze. - IP
