Thursday 09.22 Jenn/Eliel

Manager Communication: Slow first round, but that ramped up into a very busy dinner round across all floors, with Don’t Worry Darling leading the way. JH

The rest of the evening was busy and eventful. 

The first floor had a great third round. 

Bar Prep trash and recycling was never taken out. EL

Customer Comments:  There was an uncomfortable interaction with someone who was not there to see a movie and tried to scam a burger and was exhibiting erratic behavior at Trees.  Food was never ordered, and they got a beer in their hands before it was clear to us that she wasn't going to pay for anything. We stopped serving her and she walked out of the building, then back in and into the Mezz for a little while, where the MODs and I decided to let her stay up there for a bit to cool off because we didn't want a scene at a full Trees Lounge waiting to get into the last round. Dwight posted up at Trees for this part. Eventually Jared noticed that she had outside beer at Mezz and asked her to leave. She took her time but left without further incident. She was rude to Tevon, Ashley myself and especially Dwight. When she did leave, she crossed the street and got into a very loud argument with people on a bench (not staff) then she turned the corner and disappeared.  EL

BAR Staff Observations: Ashley and Darius were prepared to open with doors, with a lot of help from staff after today’s meetings ran long. Gabrielle and Tevon arrived just in time for family meal and for the dinner round to kick off service. 

Somewhere around 6:15pm, Eliel realized that Darius had clocked out and was sitting at Trees with a drink. Neither myself nor Eliel cut Darius, and we had been expecting him to work through at least the start of the second round. By the time we realized what had happened, Darius had already began drinking, so neither of us felt comfortable taking him up on his offer to clock back in. Based on what Darius, and other bartenders, said, it appears that he just assumed he was cut once Gabrielle was settled in Lobby, without ever actually getting confirmation from either bar manager. 

Eliel and I do not believe it was done maliciously, but it very clearly goes against the general standards of service and how we execute cuts. Due to the busy-ness of the evening, both with service levels and menu change, Eliel and I chose to table the discussion with Darius for another day. I believe a written warning would be sufficient, as this is very out of line with how Darius usually comports himself during his shifts, and it appears to be a colossal misunderstanding on his part. 

Splitting between floors, with Eliel down in Lobby and myself up at Trees with Ashley and Tevon, dinner service went off without issue, but we definitely felt the impact of suddenly being down a bartender. JH

Gabrielle and Tevon helped stock the bars with new products at the end of the night. 

Ashley stayed until a little after 10. Everyone worked together on Menus. EL

FOH Staff Observations: James and Kaela were great in Th4/6, and were able to run trays up to Th2 while waiting for their own tickets to be completed. JH

86ed / counts on items: The Summer Menu is 86’d. Long live the Fall Menu! JH

Prep List: I stayed late and got through a lot of the checklist but the new cocktail kegs need to get backed up, The Trees Bubblers need setting up and the Trees cocktail station needs to get setup. I left the checklist in the basket. EL

Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: US Foods tomorrow. JH
