Benjamin Saturday 1/25
Manager Communication:
We had 2 large birthday parties, one starting in the afternoon, and one starting at 5:45. The one starting in the afternoon had lots of individual checks, the one in the evening was an Italian man from the neighborhood named Fabian Carruzzo. He had come by early to give me his card and order some meat and cheese plates for everyone, and everyone was under his tab. It was his wife's birthday, and they just wanted pre dinner snacks and drinks. They were great and loved everything. They also introduced some neighborhood folks to our bar with their party.
Another night of really great bar business. I had to jump behind for a little while both parties were in full swing and the theaters were going strong, but service was great. Jesse was still here to expo some and batch a few things. So much product went out.
Customer Comments:
I interacted with a very nice gentleman in a wheelchair today who wanted to see 1917 in the dinner round, but there was only 1 seat left and it was not accessible. I explained to him and showed him online how to reserve seats, and he said he didn't want to have us ask anyone to move but he would be back on a weekday. He is in regularly and very nice.
There was a man in theater 4 (4109) Jonathan Elbaz (john.elbaz14@gmail.com). When asked for an ID by Tyler, and could not produce one. Rachel handled the beginning of this and has it in FOH blog. Tyler called saying the man wanted to speak to an MOD as credits were rolling. I responded and when I approached the table the man half flipped the check at me and said "you guys are covering this tonight." I explained that he needed to pay for what he had ordered, and he said he missed 15 minutes of the film because of what we did. He also said he hadn't been carded here before. I explained that anyone under 40 should be carded here, and that once he has been asked to produce an ID, it is against state and federal law for us to serve him alcohol. I went on to explain that the 15 minutes he lost had been avoidable, because all we needed from him was for him to not drink alcohol for the duration of his time here. At some point while we were talking he stood up to make his point and was a foot taller than me. Gil saw this on the cameras and came up just in case. Everything was fine, and the woman he was there with gave me her card. When I brought it back, he grabbed it out of my hand (as I was trying to give it to her) signed the check, threw the pen on the ground and the check presenter on a chair. He left the building, and she saw me after she used the bathroom and apologized a few times. I told her thank you.
BAR Staff Observations:
Really strong job tonight. Dylan did some superbatching in the morning as numbers started rapidly climbing with the weather. The schedule worked well, except with the little bit of time when we had a surprise full bar around 5:30 from both the parties that showed up.
FOH Staff Observations:
Bussing was poor tonight, with 7 full racks coming out of theater 1 after the dinner round and theater 2 not much better. Downstairs seemed very solid during dinner rush, from what I saw at dish after, but my attention was mostly upstairs.
Shout outs again to Max and Dale. Both need very little direction and are proactive at the bar.
Staff Meeting Agenda notes: Keep the water hot for Hot Toddy
Prep List: I prepped a late night Bloody tin to get you started, but may need a double batch of that tomorrow if the weather is like today.
Over/Short on Banks: Downstairs 7 over, Hi-Res B 6 under
Lost & Found?: I Phone X in the safe. Found in Bar. In the Safe.
