Manager Communication: Almost sold out Goodfellas, collins glasses were returned to storage.  Slow everywhere but goodfellas.  Jay got prep done, Ben handled upstairs alone. Rerouted the downstairs bar for the last round. The beer dinners are simple to handle from the bar side, so no need for extra staffing. Customer Comments: People loved the dinner and movie.  Wally killed it on his last night with us! One person attending the event had 2 friends who couldn't make it, and when I returned the $103 to a giftcard for her, she was genuinely overjoyed.  She said she loved that, and that she was surprised we accommodated her and she will be coming back as often as possible. BAR Staff Observations: Jay batched firewalk and alfredo. Ash put away all the orders. Susan and Ash crushed the beer dinner. FOH Staff Observations: Chris James had slow theaters and was helping out everywhere and getting ahead on weekly sidework. The Goodfellas team killed the se...

Jesse Tues 2/26

Manager Communication: Busy night at the bar, slow night in the theatres save for our "Midnight" of Candyman which sold 100 tickets! A great energy boost to the already lively bar, which was full to capacity with trivia. We learned a lot from our first trivia; we need to prioritize getting some extra seating in here, whether it be permanent or pop up tables for now for large events. Also, could have used two cocktail servers for it although Rebecca was incredible at serving the tables solo. Otherwise, trivia was a great addition, with tables eating and drinking, running up tabs and staying afterwards as well. About 1/3 of the teams did leave trivia to attend Candyman, these groups of film nerds will fill showings like that, so if we keep our Midnight at a Reasonable Hour, pushing it to a 10:15-10:30 pm start will let guests finish trivia and hit up the film afterwards. Customer Comments: One guest at trivia had a flatbread that she thought was burnt, not realizing it is t...

Manager Communication: Jenn mentioned that we should get lighting behind the bottles, visibility is low for guests. Slowest night in a few weeks, cut to 2 bartenders asap, cut to one for the last round.  Several unsold theaters for the last round. Walkin was mopped again.  And organized. On slow nights I think it might be a good idea to have the bartenders leave the newer fire walk on drink, so there is no chance of pouring the wrong one. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Good.  Chris is a little shaky on opening.  I think he hasn't in quite a while.   Was just 10 minutes behind, so I covered the downstairs bar during the first little bit while he grabbed things. FOH Staff Observations:  Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes:   Dating wines 86ed / counts on items: Prep List: Backup Silent Era Alfredo if Montelobos comes Lemonade Otherwise golden for tri...

Jesse Sunday 2/24

Manager Communication: A steady morning, slightly busier than Saturday when it came to the early shows. It really puttered out after the 4 o clock shows, though. The 7s were slow and the late shows had minimal sales due to Sunday night/Oscar night woes. Cut to the barest of bare bones staff (no bar runner, no lobby bar for the late shows) and all staff handled it without. No issues. Good bar crowd through 8 pm, also died out after that. Customer Comments: One guest came in to buy tickets for Sound of Music, really happy to see us doing family friendly showing in mornings on weekends. Thanked us for adjusting our policies really earnestly. That was certainly a nice change of pace. BAR Staff Observations: Bartenders need to get in the habit of getting off the clock for the 10 minutes or so when they are eating rung in food at the bar to be fair to all staff in regards to the tip pool. FOH Staff Observations: Sasha needs a lot of direction to get up to the mezz and into the dining...

Jesse Friday 2/23

Manager Communication: A slow start to the day without any special brunch screenings, the early showing dragged a bit but we saw things pick up for the 4s and 7s, with theatres really jumping up in sales and a few smaller shows selling out. Good sales for Bohemian Rhapsody and Roma gave us a nice late round as well. Lots of action at the bar tonight with the tables there; all of them were full after the theatres let out, giving us a really good energy through 10:30 pm with all seats taken and even some mezz tables. Getting bartenders out to bus the bar tables still takes prodding, but we will get there. Customer Comments: Had a family of 4 decide to eat dinner here once finding out we had tables at the bar, nice tab for the bar and its great to see this happening more and more. Had a guest return an Evil Twin, thought it was too hoppy (yup) and got a Gansett. Gentleman in theatre 3 did not bring in his printed ticket, Sarah J kept asking him to go retrieve it and he thought he was ...

Nick Friday 2/22

Manager Communication: It was a really good night tonight, nothing much to report, the bar was pretty steady all night, the team did great. Customer Comments: I had an issue with a customer in the last round in theater 1. He had not purchased a ticket and was upset that we were asking him to do so. I had to ask him to leave. He called me a dick. Pay Outs: We had a $10 payout for tea but the receipt was lost, I noted it on the payout.

Nick Thursday 2/21

Manager Communication: It was a very quiet night tonight, not much happened on the floor. Customer Comments: Mascha's Mom and my in-laws were all in today. They did not meet. 86ed / counts on items: We 86ed cold brew coffee and ginger ale tonight, both will be in in the morning. Maintenance : People are still trying the front doors and thinking they are locked. One of the video game machines is down, Juan might have put a hole in something important. He also painted over the whole speakers in the balcony, they are still putting out decent sound though. There is a pretty noticeable rattle from one of the fans in the ceiling in theater 5.

Feb 20 2019

Manager Communication: Baldor brought 2 large cases of Blood Oranges.  If you can return those, that would be great! We need 1 more peeler for downstairs bar. 1 went missing. About same ticket sales as yesterday, went down to 1 up and 1 down for the sevens, and closed downstairs for the tens.  Cut Max after the sevens rush.  Reorganized the kegs in the walkin with the openers.  Bubblers and frozens were cleaned. Customer Comments: Can we put a theater 1/staff only sticker in the theater elevator to allow for theater 1 accessability BAR Staff Observations: Really strong team today. FOH Staff Observations: Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: Ginger ale for both floors is out.  Will need to replace after the coke order comes tomorrow.  Prep List: Need firework and Silent Era. Feb 19 2019

Manager Communication: A slow night of film attendance, the combo of the three day weekend prior and some cold weather seemed to keep the neighborhood at bay. That being said, we got some decent service bar action for the 7s for what was sold and then quieted down immensely for the late round. Went down to 2 bartenders for the late shows. Simultaneously had an event in the bar tonight easily handled by two bartenders and Rebecca swing bartending and serving. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Ryan and Eliel worked very well together, both handling the bar and also closing very tightly and efficiently while keeping things looking welcoming. FOH Staff Observations: Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? MoMA event only ended up being around 30-35 guests but they still racked up around $1K in drink sales. All guests thrilled, no issues. Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: Prep List: R&D comp checks: Over/Short on B...

Manager Communication: Max had to leave early cause his finger was really bothering him from yesterday.  Edwardo came up and killed it all night. Busy day from the get go.  Almost the same ticket sales as the weekend. Spread out times, so there were always people at the bar and in the lobby.  People drinking with ticket stubs after every show.   Customer Comments: Many comments about lack of signage.   BAR Staff Observations: They did a great job.  Had 2 up and down all day, with Ash doing some prep before and after the shift. I prepped a tiny bit of Climate of the Era, as it may be coming off soon (8 oz each, for 16 total cocktails) .  It was selling well today. FOH Staff Observations: Did a great job.  Had a food runner running drinks early before Max got here, and Edwardo killed it after Max left. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Max had to leave early due to his cut finger from yesterday.  He filled out...

Feb 17 2019

Manager Communication: Strong Sunday all around, we picked up lots of walk in and last minute tickets for the 4s and 7s, selling out the small theaters and coming close for the shorts and Bohemian Rhapsody. Kept 3 bartenders on for the 7s push, cut to two after that. Kept 2 up, 2 down for the late round and then routes to HiRes for the remaining drinks of the night. No issues. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Eliel worked a rare PM shift and did an excellent job handling the lobby and balancing service bar. All around nice job. FOH Staff Observations: Edwardo did an excellent job but still needs some polite prodding to be proactive about glass racks and cleaning. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: Had issues with the Mae West coming out aggressively and carbonated; found that a keg of Mae West was charged and a keg of Silent Era was charging. Need to remind staff that only the HH G&T gets charged. 86ed ...

Feb 17 2019

Manager Communication: Really strong first round, with Willy Wonka selling well, and They Shall Not selling out.  Second and third rounds continued strong, with Alita the only one really lagging. For the 1:45 Greenbook, it sold out with just one server, but Michael handled it great.  I just had to run drinks for him. Customer Comments:  Several comments on lack of signage. BAR Staff Observations: They handled it swimmingly. FOH Staff Observations: Had one ticket for a bloody at 3:30.  I addressed it, and voided it. There was a decent amount of outside food and drink to clean up in Theater 1 after Willy Wonka.  I addressed it with the servers, but this could be a point of emphasis.  Especially with coffee, they should all know to get a glass from the bar and offer guests during preshow to pour it in one of our glasses. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: We need to remind people to a...

Feb 16 2019

Manager Communication: A really strong shift all around, steady but not overly busy early shows today with really substantial late ticket sales/walk ins for the 4s and 7s. Sold out most of the 4s, nearly all 7s (save for Alita) and had out busiest late round in a while. Bohemian Rhapsody sold out as well. Great energy in the theatre tonight, lots of first time guests to both the cinema and bars. We kept a bar crowd all night, at the minimum all stools and a few tables occupied until 11 pm. Got some stub discount from the 7s as well that continued to drive a crowd in. Well handled, kept it to 3 bartenders at HiRes until 10 pm to handle our few sold out late shows and the bar crowd. Cut to 2 up, 1 down at 10 pm. Re-routed Lobby to HiRes for last drink orders once all pre-shows in 3/5/7 were done to start shutting down. Customer Comments: One guest wanted to see Roma, was upset we did not have it. Also had several guests in theatre 5 take passes rather than sit in the front row; the s...

Feb 15 2019

Manager Communication: We need to send out an email to all FOH and managers on proper practices for Service Animals.  I informed multiple people that we cannot ask anything but if it is a service animal.  Several people were wondering if we could ask for papers, and one did in front of me before I could say anything.  The people were fine and not offended, but we need to be compliant.  I can draft an email on Sunday if wanted. Slow for a Friday.  Good turn from the 7's to 10's with people hanging at the bar throughout. Got enough Zalem probably for the weekend. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Excellent team FOH Staff Observations:  General good shoutout! Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: No backup Modern IPA Prep List: We need a Fire walk.  (the puree is thawing in the walkin) R&D comp checks: Over/Short on Banks: Pay Outs:...

Feb 13 2019

Manager Communication: Sorry, I thought this posted last night and apparently it didn't so it got deleted.  It didn't even save my draft so this is a new version. Busiest Wednesday in a bit!  everyone was great.  Got the Alita cocktail done.   The ingredients for it are in the walkin next to the preserved lemon syrup. Relabeled the Kelso Wit, so that's good to go. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Great service all around. FOH Staff Observations: Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: 86 saratoga still.  count on omegang Prep List: Casablanca cocktail, thaw prickly pear puree R&D comp checks: For Alita. Feb 12 2019

Manager Communication: Slow service tonight, our 4 o clock shows were slow, steady 7s but never more than 5-6 bar tickets at a time. Easily handled. late shows were slim, routed all upstairs for the late round and ran with 2 bartenders from 7:30 - close. Customer Comments: High praise for the Firewalk from a bar guest tonight. BAR Staff Observations: No issues, good crew.  FOH Staff Observations: Servers upstairs got a little backed up in Th1 for the 7s with a surprise pop for the Shorts. I helped with drink running and support in the theatre, but having 1 server per and no drink runner leaves us very few pieces to move around. We made it work, but once business ticks up a bit we will need to decide if adding a server or runner will be the best solution. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: Successful bar meeting today, reviewed and tightened up on some housekeeping stuff. Gave staff a menu test with mixed but pretty...

Feb 11 2019

Manager Communication: Coke should be out tomorrow.  On the crazy chance that they are here before us, I communicated with Ian what the issues are. Slow, but the first round was better than usual.  Also the 8 30 and 9 starts helps business.  A bit better than last Monday Caribe never came. Customer Comments: I had to help quite 4 people get tickets with the promo code on our computer downstairs. BAR Staff Observations: Everyone was on point.  Got the walkin mopped.  Got our keg cocktails set for most of the week. FOH Staff Observations: Good team.  In 4 and 6 they were a bit slow at times running drinks just cause they were not used to not having a drink runner, but they got better. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Ash was running late cause of slow G Trains and texted me ahead of time.  It was fine, just explaining the late clock in. Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: Count on Omeg...

Feb 10 2019

Manager Communication: Strong start and middle of the day, but the Grammys gave us a slower than usual Sunday 7s and a very slow late showing. Coca Cola once again did not come out. Finally, I spoke with the local dispatch today and they not only confirmed for tomorrow but also said the techs will be fixing the holster in the lobby bar and determining the root cause so we can stop this from happening. Neither of our local reps have returned a single call this weekend, both have been reported to Coca Cola. Other than that awful situation, no hinderances to a very good service today. Cuts in line with business volume, ran tight with labor and all went well. Customer Comments: One guest remarked that our signage left a lot to be desired and he had trouble finding his way around. BAR Staff Observations: Good team tonight, took advantage of slow periods to get lots of cleaning done both behind the bars and consolidating in the walk in. FOH Staff Observations: Hiring/Training: ...

Nick Saturday 2/9

Manager Communication: It was a very busy night all around tonight. It felt really good. Not much to report, no major issues behind the bar. 86ed / counts on items: We are on a count on Ommegang. It is coming on the Union order on Tuesday, we might 86 before then. Carib is still 86ed till Monday. Prep List: I think we are looking good for tomorrow. We will need to finish that aperol glass in the walk-in at some point. Maintenance: The coke repair guy did not come today. We are going to continue to hound them tomorrow. We also have a meeting set up with the district manager to find a more permanent fix to our issues. Mobilebytes Issues: We had another socket server disconnection in the lobby. Gil was able to fix it.

Feb 9 2019 Brunch

Manager Communication: Coca Cola issues today, another gun ruptured at the upstairs bar. Filled large store n' pours and a bus bin with ice and kept a soda station set up. Service was good today, not as busy as when we had Groundhog Day for the first showings (at least not all in one theatre) but overall, really great numbers that kept climbing. We tripled the initial sales at the beginning of the day when it came to tickets, so keep that in mind; lots more walk ins and last minute buying at PP. Customer Comments: A guest at lobby bar complained that we do not have guest accessible WiFi. BAR Staff Observations: Jenn and Jeremy did an excellent job splitting a strong service push to HiRes for the 3:30-4:00 films. FOH Staff Observations: Had two servers ringing in Bloody Marys close to 4:00 pm. I got alternate orders and voided before they were made, but this needs to be reiterated. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes:...

Feb 8 2019

Manager Communication: Solid 7's, theaters 1 and 2 were only half sold.  Solid turnout at upstairs bar between 7's and 10's.  Had some theater regulars come and start becoming bar regulars.  Just drank tonight. Good staff party on the Mezz once cuts were made. Theater 5 Bohemian was full and drinking strongly for the 10s.  Some of the best Friday 10's I have seen in a bit.  Maybe put it back in 1 or 2 for the 10s? Also, it might be worth thinking about with the current schedule of during a slightly early midnight in 1 and 2 in the future with Rep, as they are both letting out around 10 45 or 11 right now. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Max is doing a great job.  He has improved a ton.  Each time I walked up to him to remind him of some task, he had already done it. Very smooth all night. FOH Staff Observations: Great crew on tonight. One note, if you can emphasize and layout out the specifics of how to communicate wh...

Nick Thursday 2/7

Manager Communication: DOH inspection today. We will follow up with specifics, but we got an A. Prep List: We will need Aperol glass tomorrow (I made some, but threw it away when DOH showed up) 😇 Pay Outs: I had to do a $355 payout for an outstanding invoice from the first week we opened in order to get clear from the SLA. I followed up with Bogi. Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: We have several orders coming tomorrow. Jesse and I should be here by the time they come in. We will need to order limes and cinnamon sticks. Maintenance: The left front door is sticking pretty badly. Most customers think it is locked. Filmbot Issues: The card reader was not working when we opened. Apparently Filmbot had an app update and we needed to update from the app store. It worked after that.

Feb 6 2019

Manager Communication: The new promo gave a nice boost to the 4's and 7's.  Still a bit slow, but an improvement from last week.   Cut to 1 up 1 down just after 7's, cut to just one closer for the end. A little bar business in general, some people just in to drink. Decent bar business during the start of the 10's Ash is willing to do a double on President's Day to give Ben his birthday off.  It would not effect the amount of bartenders we have as she could move from the lobby to HiRes as soon as Dylan comes in to close.  I just wanted to check in before approving it. Ice machine was running loud.  The fan was fine.  I turned it off for a while and then turned it back on.  It was still running loud.  So I turned it off overnight with a full bin.  Please check in the morning. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Solid team. FOH Staff Observations: They did great during a slightly busier sevens than we have had with no run...

Feb 5 2019

Manager Communication: A very slow service today, with sparse ticket sales for all showtimes. Went down to one bartender for the 10s with all theaters routed upstairs. No issues. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Jenn is great with guest interactions, kept the few guests that populated the bar throughout in for a few rounds. FOH Staff Observations: Kudos to the servers for working well without drink runners, rarely if ever did they have to be pulled from stations and reminded. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Staff Meeting Agenda notes: 86ed / counts on items: Prep List: R&D comp checks: Over/Short on Banks: Pay Outs: Lost & Found?: Ordering/Receiving/Shipping: Baldor order in for tomorrow, making a run to Kalustyans Thursday. Feb 4 2019

Manager Communication: Cut to 1 up and 1 down for the sevens, rerouted for the tens and had ash solo for the 10s. 6 people came in at the 10s just to drink at the bar.  Also, Glass and Bohemian did surprisingly well for a Monday 10s.  Warm weather is great. Gingerale is out downstairs, but full upstairs.  We need more for Wednesday. I started a doc in bartender training called NPP FAQ if you want to take a look and see what else we can add.  Just a way to train bartenders how to think about delivering our policies and ways in quick concise ways. Everything went smoothly without a drink runner.  I did the opening duties today, but for Monday through Wednesday we should add the drink runner opening to the end of the prep shift. Caleb was fine with the cut tomorrow. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Solid.  Slow.  Dylan charmed lots of folks.   FOH Staff Observations: Solid.  Slow.  Hiring/Training: Sick ...

Feb 3 2019

Manager Communication: A decent round of 4s, but then the Superbowl bottomed out the rest of the night. 7s sold alright, but the late shows were a ghost town. Cut to 1 bartender and re-routed tickets to HiRes for the final round. Cut bar runners for the late shows. Customer Comments: Had a couple say that the pre-show about the arcade games led them to believe we had more machines, not upset just an observation. BAR Staff Observations: No issues, solid crew and slow day to boot. FOH Staff Observations: Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events? Feb 3 2019 Brunch

Manager Communication: Prep was excellent,  good showing for opening for Groundhog Day and Free Solo. Otherwise uneventful We need Caffiza to clean our coffee urns properly. Customer Comments: Older people wanting printed out schedules of films BAR Staff Observations: Solid. Feb 2 2019

Manager Communication: 4s were a mixed bag, but mostly sold. Strong leading into the 7s at the bar with a good sized bar crowd coming out of the 4s. We also got a huge push to the bar after the 7s while the 10s started lining up and stayed at a good energy through 10pm, tapering off around then. We had good late round sales, best I've seen thus far on a Saturday. This gave us another nice service push. We had a printer go down during the 7s and the service bar in HiRes got slammed with an all at once ticket swarm. I pulled the runner from downstairs to keep trays moving and the bartenders navigated it really well. Cut to two closers up and 1 down at 10:30 pm. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Jeremy is a stellar service bartender, he calls tickets well and has a wicked memory for drinks and gets a lot done at once. Dylan did an excellent job tonight as well. Everyone did, but honorable mentions for those two. FOH Staff Observations: Hiring/Training: Sick Lea...

Feb 1 2019

Manager Communication: Had to dump old lemon and lime.  Also dumped old Barry Lyndon.  All recorded in Avero. Not great sevens, but solid tens. good bar business between shows, and a few just bar folks. The use first bloody concentrate mix is from the 11th, but still tastes great.  Needs to be used this weekend! We had some people playing poker upstairs.  Spoke with them about no outside beverage.  They did purchase a few beverages, but we have to make sure to keep close eyes on that space. Customer Comments: BAR Staff Observations: Only note is not from tonight perse, but we need to stress and check that the bubblers, frozens, and perolators are labeled with correct dates. FOH Staff Observations: Still got some people ringing in soda waters with lime.  Not necessary.  Otherwise very solid. Hiring/Training: Sick Leave/ Call outs: Special Events?
