Manager Communication:
Slow day with Midsommar and Hollywood doing the heavy lifting.
Had the same problem in theater 1 for the first round of 35 mm as yesterday. Will address in customer comments.
Had Dylan prep and stock, and cut him by 9.
Customer Comments:
Theater 1's sound was malfunctioning for the dinner round of 35 mm Hollywood. We caught it early and I made the announcement to the theater that we are so sorry, and will be playing the DCP and that we were going to give them passes to come to join us another time on the house. One woman responded loudly that she was never coming back and would like a refund and "I think I speak for the whole theater." One person responded that "No, I'm good with the passes." and the whole theater laughed. I think most people understood. I tried to help her save a little face by saying that would be fine and we would refund her. It was a tough situation.
For the 7:30 Midsommar, a group of 5 men came in and got drinks at the bar. Eliel said they were a bit odd, but he was busy and wasn't sure if they were drunk. 2 of them had to come back to the bar cause they had left their tickets there, at which point I could tell they were drunk. They mentioned to Ryan that they were seeing the movie one way or another, and Ryan took back good control of the situation as I went to theater 5 to talk to Beau. Before I said anything, he said he thought that the group might be a little off, and he wasn't sure if they were drunk. Beau had put in a round of beers for the ones that had not ordered anything, and to avoid escalating anything, I said it was ok, just to wait 15 minutes to serve them to slow them down. I also told him to slow service and to get me if any more drinks were ordered. They did attempt to order drinks at which point I went in to the theater and informed them that I did not feel comfortable serving them more alcohol, but they were welcome to order food and nonalcoholic beverages. I had to do this twice as the group was split into 2 locations. Both times it was accepted well. We also informed the bartenders of this, and 1 member of the group did try to order at the bar, at which point I was radioed for. I again said I did not feel comfortable serving him alcohol. He asked why (not in an aggressive way) and I told him that NY law holds me and my staff responsible for anything that can happen, and I noticed visual signs of intoxication and personally don't feel comfortable serving him. He said "Good Answer" and returned to the theater.
BAR Staff Observations:
Really good all around.
FOH Staff Observations:
Impressed by the growth in communication from a few months ago. There were some tricky things, but everyone was communicating well.
